Planning for every diet

We take diets and allergies seriously. Here’s how you can help:

  • Make allergen information visible at every stall
  • Plan for vegan and gluten-free visitors
  • Provide seating near the food
  • Check traders’ packaging and waste plans

Pans cook in full view, and serve from the pan throughout the event.

Bowls and forks for eating on the go.

Why choose live paella in Heron Quays?

If you want a trader that adds atmosphere, paella is a strong choice. Premium seafood costs more than chicken or vegetables, so the menu you choose affects the price. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

Choosing a paella caterer

What festival paella catering costs

Your quote will be clear and itemised. What affects it most:

  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • Travel, parking and access
  • How long we’re needed on site
  • The paellas you choose

Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. Everything is confirmed in writing.

What we need to know

These details help us quote quickly:

  • Anything your venue supplies
  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • A photo of the cooking space, if it’s a garden or field

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote: the venue, the timings, the courses you’d like and any extras. To send your details, fill in our quote form.

Should I cook it myself?

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but there’s shopping, prep and hours of cooking. A caterer handles all of that.

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the cooking.

Organising for someone else?

Hosting a party at home? Send us a photo of the garden and tell us about access, and we will tell you honestly whether live paella will work.

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can hold the date.

Space, weather and the venue

Live paella is cooked over gas burners in large pans, so the cooking area needs a little planning. Here’s what we look for:

  • Your trader pack and site rules
  • Pitch space for cooking and serving
  • Details of power, water and waste arrangements

As a London location, Heron Quays is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise.

Popular choices

  • Vegan paella
  • Tapas
  • Churros
  • Seafood paella
  • Giant paella pans
  • Chicken & chorizo paella

What happens on the day

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. At midsummer, events in Heron Quays stay light until about 9:20pm, so evening trading usually finishes in daylight in high summer. Winter markets, dark by about 3:55pm, need a well-lit pitch.

  1. Tell us about the event, the crowd and the pitch.
  2. We reply with our menu, prices for visitors and requirements.
  3. Paperwork goes over in good time.
  4. We time the first pans for the lunchtime rush.
  5. When trading ends, the pitch is cleared and left clean.

Getting ready for the day

  • Give us your final numbers and diets
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
  • Tell us where to park and unload
