About the dishes

Giant paella pans

Huge pans of golden rice.

Vegan paella

A proper vegan main, in its own pan.

Paella compared with other options

Food that sits in a hot cabinet isn’t much to look at. Paella cooking in full view sells itself. The cost per head normally falls as numbers rise, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we will quote.

Four Throws questions

Do you trade at school fairs around Four Throws?

Yes, with the school’s permission. Tell us the date and pitch details.

Is Four Throws too small for live paella?

No, we cook in small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

Which areas do you serve?

London and the South East: Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight, including Four Throws.

Who clears up?

Our cooking area is packed away and left clean. Table clearing is available with waiting staff.

Can you bring crockery?

Yes, if you need them. Tell us what your venue provides and we’ll include the rest in the quote.

How many paellas should we have?

Two or three is usual: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We will help you decide the split.

When should we book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Ask about your date even if it is soon.

Can you cater for children?

Yes, children are easy to cater for. Let us know numbers and ages, and we’ll plan a pan with them in mind.

Prices and what affects them

Each event is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Parking and unloading
  • Timings and hours
  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • The paellas you choose

Extras such as tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are priced separately, so you only pay for what you want.

Details that help

To check availability and price, we need:

  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • The address or venue name
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts

Every event is quoted individually, so you only pay for what you need. To ask for one, fill in our quote form.

Diets, allergies and planning

Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Try these:

  • Provide seating near the food
  • Check traders’ packaging and waste plans
  • Ask for allergen information at each stall
  • Put all trader information in one pack

If crew or volunteer meals are booked, they’re served at the agreed times.

Churros and tapas can join the menu.

Organising for someone else?

Hosting a party at home? Send a photo of the space and tell us about parking, and we will let you know if live paella is a good fit.

Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we will talk you through the process. We’re happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, keep the stock hot, and do not stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Not sure whether to cook yourself or book a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Ask us for a quote and compare.

How it works

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. Evening events in Four Throws have light until about 9:15pm at midsummer; after that, the pitch needs good lighting.

  1. Tell us about the event, the crowd and the pitch.
  2. We reply with our menu, prices for visitors and requirements.
  3. Paperwork goes over in good time.
  4. We time the first pans for the lunchtime rush.
  5. At close, we pack down and tidy up.

Preparing for the day

  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time
  • Give us a contact for the day
  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to cook
