Festival paella catering for your event in Four Ashes
Because paella is cooked in big batches, it handles lunchtime rushes well. Each portion takes seconds to serve. We are frequently asked to cater summer fairs and fêtes and open days, serving chicken and chorizo paella, giant-pan paella and churros.
At a field event near Four Ashes, power and water may be limited; let us know and we will plan for it. Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included, each in a separate pan and clearly labelled.

- Feed crew and volunteers at set times
- Ask traders about serving speed at peak times
- Plan seating near the food area
- Check traders’ packaging and waste plans
Allergen details are available at the stall, and each pan is labelled.
Churros and tapas can join the menu.
Questions from Four Ashes
Do you cater in the Chilterns National Landscape?
Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We will follow the site rules.
How far is Four Ashes from London?
About 29 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.
How far ahead should we book?
The sooner the better. Popular dates book up first, so it pays to ask early.
Do you do crew catering?
Yes, timed to your schedule. Tell us numbers and timings.
Can you supply plates?
If you need them, yes. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables can be added to your booking.
Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?
Yes, and meat eaters often go back for seconds. Each is cooked separately, with its own stock and utensils.
Can you cook in the rain?
A covered, ventilated spot keeps us cooking in the rain. We’ll talk it through before the day.
Should we have more than one paella?
Two or three covers most guests. We will recommend a mix based on diets.
DIY paella versus live catering
If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, keep the stock hot, and don’t stir once the rice goes in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.
Some hosts like to cook themselves. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.
The process
Once the rice is in, we do not stir it. That’s what gives paella its separate grains and crispy base. The smell generally draws people over. For an evening event in Four Ashes, sunset is about 8:55pm in late May and 9:25pm in late June; after dark, we need a lit pitch.
- We check your dates.
- We agree what we’ll serve and where.
- Burners and pans go up.
- Pans are cooking as gates open.
- We serve, then clear the pitch at the end.
Getting ready for the day
- Check the venue allows live cooking
- Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
- Give us a contact for the day

Planning help
What festival paella catering costs
Every event is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:
- Waiting and bar staff
- How many courses
- How many guests are eating
- The paellas you choose
Larger events typically cost less per head, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we will quote.
What we need to know
Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:
- Which courses you have in mind
- Roughly how many adults and children
- The venue or postcode
- A photo of the cooking space, if it is a garden or field
We quote for each event separately, so you only pay for what you need. For a quote, use our quote form.
Live paella or other catering?
Burger stalls are common. Paella adds something different. Premium seafood costs more than chicken or vegetables, so the menu you choose affects the price. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.
