Paella compared with other options

Hot-cabinet food lacks theatre. A huge pan cooking in view sells itself. Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you can choose exactly what you need.

Why Eastrop hosts choose us

  • Drinks service on request
  • Cooking your guests will gather round to watch
  • Hot food served quickly from the pan
  • A clear, itemised quote

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it’s harder than it looks. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.

What affects the price in Eastrop

There are no hidden charges: the price is based on:

  • How many staff you need
  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • How many guests are eating

When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: staff, crockery, sides, travel and VAT. We itemise ours.

What to tell us

Good planning starts with a few facts. Try to include:

  • A picture of the cooking space, if it is a garden or field
  • The address or venue name
  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff

Send us the date, your venue or RG21 postcode and guest numbers, along with any dietary needs, and we will reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. Just send us your details through our quote form.

Eastrop: your questions answered

Can you run a stall at a school fair in Eastrop?

Yes, if the school is happy for us to cook on site. Tell us the date and pitch details.

Could we have live paella in Eastrop Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council. Check with them, and we’ll provide our paperwork.

What documents can you send?

Tell us what the event needs and we’ll send it with our application.

How much space do you need?

A level space for the pans, burners and a serving table, outdoors or in a marquee or well-ventilated area, plus the venue’s agreement to cooking.

Is the paella gluten-free?

Yes, on request. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we cook a gluten-free paella separately.

Do you cater in Eastrop?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, including Eastrop. To check your date, fill in our quote form.

Do you take everything away?

Our cooking area is packed away and left clean. Ask us about table clearing if you need it.

Will you have a stall at our event?

Tell us about the event, dates and pitch, and we’ll let you know if we are available.

How the day works

Serving is fast: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so large groups are fed quickly. When service is finished, we pack down. For an evening event in Eastrop, sunset is about 8:55pm in late May and 9:25pm in late June; after dark, we need a lit pitch.

  1. You send us the event, dates and pitch details.
  2. We confirm what we’ll serve, our pitch needs and any paperwork.
  3. We arrive at the agreed time to set up the pitch.
  4. We cook in front of the crowd and serve from the pan all event.
  5. We pack down and leave the pitch tidy.

Planning help

Diets, allergies and planning

Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because every paella has its own pan. A few tips:

  • Give traders a single information pack
  • Check how many portions traders can serve
  • Make allergen information visible at every stall
  • Make sure the line-up includes vegan and gluten-free options

Allergen information is available at the stall, and each pan is labelled.

Larger pans for peak times.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
