Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but there is shopping, prep and hours of cooking. A caterer handles all of that.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

FAQs for Brunswick

Can you run a stall at a school fair in Brunswick?

Yes, with the school’s permission. Send us the date, pitch and expected numbers.

Can you cook in St. Ann's Well Gardens?

Only if the landowner, normally the council, allows it. Check with them, and we’ll provide our paperwork.

Can we book you as a trader?

Send us the event details, dates and pitch information, and we will let you know if we are available.

Do you have the documents we need?

Send your requirements and we’ll include them with our application.

Is the paella cooked on site?

It is. We bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients and cook it there and then, then serve straight from the pan.

Do you do starters?

Yes, and it’s a popular combination. Tapas go out first, then the paella.

Can vegans eat at your stall?

Yes. The vegan pan is cooked separately.

Can you do gluten-free paella?

We can cook a gluten-free paella in its own pan. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can plan it carefully.

How we price festival paella catering

Your quote will be clear and itemised. The main things that affect it are:

  • How many staff you need
  • Travel, parking and access
  • Guest numbers
  • How long we are needed on site

Compared with a plated meal, live paella is frequently good value, as there is no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. We’ll send you a quote.

Getting an accurate quote

You don’t need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:

  • A picture of the space, if you can
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • Anything your venue supplies
  • Any dietary needs and allergies

We need only a few details to quote: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. To send them, fill in our quote form.

Brunswick events: pitches and permissions

Brunswick is about 1 mile south-west of Brighton, in Brighton and Hove. We cater events at gardens, halls and venues around Brunswick and nearby villages. Brunswick is one of 30 towns and villages in Brighton and Hove where we cook.

For visitors coming by rail, the nearest station is Brighton station, about 0.6 miles north-east. Running a fête for a church like St Stephen's Church? A paella pan draws people in. Within about 7 miles is the South Downs National Park, where events may have extra rules on vehicles and waste; we’ll follow the site’s requirements. The coast is within about a mile of Brunswick, so for seaside events we plan a sheltered pitch, and seafood paella sells well by the sea.

We cook at events all over BN1, BN3 and BN50 and the streets around it. Your event could be at a home on Farm Road, York Road and Powis Road or the roads around them. Neighbouring places where we cater events include Seven Dials (1 mile north-east), West Hill (1 mile north-east), Prestonville (1 mile north), Hove (1 mile north-west) and Carlton Hill (1 mile east). What happens on the day

When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. Summer events in Brunswick have daylight until about 9:15pm at midsummer and about 7:05pm by late September, so evening trading normally finishes in daylight in high summer. Winter markets, dark by about 3:55pm, need a well-lit pitch.

  1. Organisers send us the event details, dates and pitch information.
  2. We confirm what we’ll serve, our pitch needs and any paperwork.
  3. On the day, we arrive and set up our pitch.
  4. We cook in front of the crowd and serve from the pan all event.
  5. We pack down and leave the pitch tidy.
