Festival paella catering in Blackfriars, cooked live

One paella stall covers many diets: separate meat, seafood and vegan pans. That makes life easier for organisers. Typical bookings include community events and open days and county and country shows, serving chicken and chorizo paella, churros and seafood paella.

How the day works

Serving is fast: we serve straight from the pan, so large groups are fed quickly. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. Summer events in Blackfriars have daylight until about 9:20pm at midsummer and about 7:05pm by late September, which helps evening trading. Winter markets, dark by about 3:55pm, need a well-lit pitch.

  1. Tell us about the event, the crowd and the pitch.
  2. We reply with our menu, prices for visitors and requirements.
  3. We send the documents the event asks for.
  4. We time the first pans for the lunchtime rush.
  5. When trading ends, the pitch is cleared and left clean.

Before we arrive

  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
  • Have a level space ready for the pans
  • Name one person we can ask on the day

Blackfriars questions

Can you run a stall at a school fair in Blackfriars?

Yes, with the school’s permission. Send us the date, pitch and expected numbers.

Is parking a problem for events in Blackfriars?

It can be, so tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway. We will plan unloading around it.

Do you cook it at the event?

Yes. We bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients and cook it there and then, serving it hot from the pan.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Of course. We cook vegetarian and vegan paellas in their own pans.

Is there a vegan option?

Absolutely. The vegan pan is cooked separately.

Indoors only where ventilation and the venue allow it. Courtyards, doorways and terraces often work.

Can you trade at our festival or fair?

Send us the details, and we will reply with our availability and what we need.

Prices and what affects them

We will give you a clear, itemised quote. The main things that affect it are:

  • Your choice of paellas
  • How long we’re needed on site
  • Travel, parking and access
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff

Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you only pay for what you want.

What we need to know

You do not need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:

  • Which courses you have in mind
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Where the event is
  • The date and rough timings

Space, weather and the venue

No two venues are the same, so we ask about the space before we confirm. In general, we need:

  • Your arrangements for power, water and waste
  • Clearance from tents and gazebos
  • Flat, firm ground

Blackfriars is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and we’ll say what we think.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the cooking.

  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
