Our caterer checklist

Should I cook it myself?

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but you will still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. We take care of all of it.

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

What’s in the pans

Paella lunches

Two or three paellas served from the pan, ideal for a lunch break.

Vegan and vegetarian pans

Separate pans with plant-based stock, so everyone eats well.

Step by step

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. For a Christmas party in Old Town, it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so the cooking and serving areas need good lighting. A summer party has daylight until about 9:15pm.

  1. We check the date and venue.
  2. You pick the menu.
  3. We provide the paperwork.
  4. The paella cooks as your team gathers.
  5. It is served quickly, then we pack down.

Before we arrive

  • Arrange parking near the cooking spot

Prices and what affects them

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, depending on:

  • How long we’re needed on site
  • The number of people
  • How many courses
  • Your choice of paellas

Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so it helps to tell us about your venue. Everything is confirmed in writing.

What we need to know

The more we know about your work event, the better we can plan. Please include:

  • Where the event is
  • Anything your venue supplies
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • Which courses you have in mind

Send us the date, your venue or BN21 postcode and guest numbers, plus any dietary needs, and you’ll get a menu idea and a price. To get started, use our quote form.

Before you choose a spot

We’ll agree the cooking spot with you before the day. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • Sign-off from facilities for live cooking
  • Clearance from fences, hedges, branches and anything flammable
  • Parking close enough to carry equipment

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What we offer

Planning for every diet

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. We suggest:

  • Tell us how long the food break is
  • Make sure there are plenty of soft drinks
  • Ask what the venue requires from caterers
  • Think about shade and seating

We leave the space as we found it.

Bowl food for standing events.

Questions from Old Town

How far is Old Town from London?

Roughly 53 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

What’s the nearest station to Old Town for guests?

Eastbourne station, about 0.7 miles east of the centre.

Do you do Christmas parties?

We can, with a suitable covered cooking area. A steaming pan on a cold evening goes down well.

Can you invoice the company?

Let us know your company’s process, and we’ll explain how we work.

Can you cook halal paella?

Yes. Halal paella is cooked with halal chicken and no pork or alcohol, in its own pan.

Should we have more than one paella?

Two or three is usual: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. We’ll suggest a split based on your guests.

What about pudding?

We can add a dessert. Tell us what you have in mind when you ask for a quote.

How long does the paella take?

That depends on your menu and numbers. We agree the timings in advance so the paella is ready when you want it.

Why choose live paella in Old Town?

Plated meals need a kitchen and staff. Paella needs a level, ventilated spot and the venue’s permission. Live paella pricing depends on the event. A garden party lunch and a full wedding menu are very different jobs. Your quote spells it all out.

Why us?

  • Options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in its own pan
  • Crockery and waiting staff if you need them
  • Starters and desserts to complete the menu
  • A quote that spells everything out
