Wendover questions

Do you cater in the Chilterns National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We’ll follow the site rules.

Which station should guests use for Wendover?

Wendover has its own station: Wendover station.

Can you cook in the rain?

Rain doesn’t stop us, as long as there is a ventilated cover. We’ll talk it through before the day.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We take our equipment and leave the cooking area tidy. Ask us about table clearing if you need it.

Can we try the food first?

Tell us you’d like a tasting when you enquire, and we’ll explain how it works.

Can you supply plates?

Yes, on request. Proper crockery or quality disposables are available.

Can you serve tapas as well?

Yes. Canapés with drinks or tapas for the tables, while the rice is cooking.

How long does the paella take?

We get there in good time to set up. The rice itself takes about 20 minutes, and we time it to your schedule.

Wedding paella catering in Wendover, made fresh on the day

Timing is everything with paella: the rice needs about 20 minutes and is best served immediately. We plan it around your speeches and photos. Typical bookings include destination-style celebrations at home and rustic barn weddings, serving evening paella, a paella wedding breakfast and canapé tapas.

For a smaller place like Wendover, a garden or farm wedding is often the dream. We’ll need a level spot and a way to reach it. Everything is cooked from scratch at your wedding, not reheated, and served as soon as it is ready.

The process

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, set up the pans and burners, and cook and serve without fuss. Golden-hour photos in Wendover at midsummer come around 9:25pm, so we can time the evening paella around your photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:55pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

  1. Share your date, venue, numbers and plans for the day.
  2. Together we plan each course and confirm the price.
  3. We fit our timings around your speeches, photos and venue.
  4. On the day, we set up, cook in front of your guests and serve each course.
  5. We clear our cooking area, and staff stay as agreed.

Organising for someone else?

Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we’ll keep you updated on timings and set-up.

If you are planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It keeps things simple.

DIY paella versus live catering

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and do not stir once the rice goes in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
