Dietary needs and planning tips

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. We suggest:

  • Let us know about meals for your band or photographer
  • Ask about diets and allergies with your RSVPs
  • Give us separate day and evening numbers
  • Ask about your date as soon as you have one

If speeches or photos run over, tell us, and we will adapt the timing so it is still served fresh.

Add sangria, or bar staff to serve your own drinks.

About our wedding paella catering in Toy's Hill

Paella suits relaxed, sociable weddings, especially with long tables and outdoor venues. It feels generous without being stuffy. Typical bookings include wedding receptions after a small ceremony and weddings with lots of dietary needs, with evening paella, Spanish desserts and a paella wedding breakfast.

London weddings around Toy's Hill often mean a ceremony at a church or register office, then a reception at a hired venue or a family garden. Live paella works well at both, as long as there’s a ventilated spot to cook. In London, parking and loading need planning early. We serve straight from the pan, so every plate is hot, and a queue moves quickly.

What we need to know

The more we know about your wedding, the better we can plan. Try to include:

  • Expected numbers
  • The date and rough timings
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • Diets and allergies you know about

Step by step

When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. 1. We start with your date, venue, numbers and ideas.
  2. Together we plan each course and confirm the price.

  4. On the day we set up, cook live and serve each course as planned.
  5. We pack down our cooking area, with staff staying as long as agreed.

Toy's Hill: your questions answered

Can you cook in Stubbs Wood Country Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, normally the council. Check with them, and we’ll provide our paperwork.

Is parking a problem for events in Toy's Hill?

It can be, so tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway. We’ll work around it.

Can you cater the whole day?

Yes. We can do canapés, tapas, the wedding breakfast, evening food and desserts.

What areas do you cover?

London and South East England: Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight, including Toy's Hill.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes, and meat eaters frequently go back for seconds. They have their own pans, stock and spoons.

Do you provide plates and cutlery?

We can. Let us know what you have, and we’ll quote for the rest.

What if our speeches run late?

Tell us and we’ll adjust. We keep in touch with your venue on the day so the paella is served fresh.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We clear our cooking area away when service is finished. Waiting staff can clear tables if you book them.

Should I cook it myself?

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles separate pans for each diet.

You can hire equipment and do it yourself, but you’ll still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. We take care of all of it.

Before you choose a spot

Live paella is cooked over gas burners in large pans, so the cooking area needs a little planning. Here’s what we look for:

  • A separate open-sided gazebo if the meal is in a marquee
  • Access for unloading near the cooking spot
  • Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover

Toy's Hill is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.
