Live wedding paella catering in Holywell

Wedding paella catering in Holywell, made fresh on the day

Paella as evening food is popular: hot, filling and served quickly from the pan, so the party keeps going. Typical bookings include weddings in a marquee or garden and relaxed sharing-style wedding breakfasts, serving a paella wedding breakfast, Spanish desserts and canapé tapas.

In Holywell, a local ceremony and a marquee reception is a lovely, personal choice. Paella cooked on the lawn suits that perfectly. Let us know about access for the van. We bring everything we need to cook, and pack down our cooking area when service is finished.

Our caterer checklist

What wedding paella catering costs

Each event is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Distance and access to the venue
  • Waiting and bar staff
  • How many guests are eating

The cost per head usually falls as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

Details that help

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what’s useful:

  • The address or venue name
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • Your date and when you want to eat
  • A photo of the space, if you can

We need only a few details to quote: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. To send them, use our quote form.

Where we can cook in Holywell

We will be honest if a space will not work, and help find another spot. The main points are:

  • The venue’s permission for live cooking
  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and we will say what we think.

What we offer

  • Dessert
  • Evening paella
  • Paella wedding breakfast
  • Table tapas
  • Sangria & bar staff
  • Canapé tapas

Planning for every diet

Nearly every event has some special diets. To cater well for them:

  • Send us the running order and speech times
  • Ask about diets and allergies with your RSVPs
  • Ask whether your venue allows outside caterers
  • Include any suppliers you’re feeding

Evening guests can be served from fresh pans later on, timed for after the first dance.

Add sangria, or bar staff to serve your own drinks.

How the day works

When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so we time everything to your schedule. At midsummer, sunset in Holywell is about 9:15pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. Sunset is around 8:45pm in late May and 7:00pm in late September.

  1. Tell us your date, venue and numbers.
  2. We plan your menu course by course.
  3. Timings are agreed with your venue.
  4. On the day, we cook and serve each course.
  5. We clear our area; staff stay as booked.

Preparing for the day

  • Give us your final numbers and diets
  • Leave space around the cooking area
  • Give us a contact for the day

Live paella is less formal than a plated meal, but with the right extras it feels just as special. There is no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. We itemise everything in your quote.

What you get with us

Getting married in Holywell?

Holywell is about 2 miles south of Eastbourne, in East Sussex. Tell us where your wedding in Holywell will be, and we will plan access and set-up before the day. Put the station on your invitation: Eastbourne station is about 1.2 miles away. Planning photos in Gildrege Park? It is worth checking the park’s rules first. Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, keep the stock hot, and don’t stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

A DIY paella party works for small groups. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.

Working with your venue

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep you updated on timings and set-up.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: cooking areas, access times and documents. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work to it.
