Is live paella right for your wedding?

Plated wedding meals need a kitchen and more staff. Paella needs a level, ventilated spot and permission, and feels more relaxed. The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, plus any staff, crockery and travel. Every event gets its own quote.

Questions from Burham

Could we have live paella in Burham Marsh?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council. Check with them, and we will provide our paperwork.

Is Burham too small for live paella?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

Do you have a kids’ option?

Yes. Children frequently love a simple chicken paella. Include children in your numbers.

Do you offer tastings?

Ask us about tastings when you contact us.

What about supplier meals?

Yes, include them in your numbers. Tell us when they’ll eat.

When should we book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Ask about your date even if it is soon.

Do you do desserts?

We do. Churros, crema catalana and tarta de Santiago are popular choices, or you can serve your own cake.

How much is live paella catering?

The price depends on numbers, menu, courses, staff and travel. Tell us about your event and we’ll send a quote.

What wedding paella catering costs

These are the factors that matter most:

  • How many guests are eating
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • How many staff you need
  • Parking and unloading

Live paella pricing depends on the event. A garden party lunch and a full wedding menu are very different jobs. We itemise everything in your quote.

Getting an accurate quote

For a quote, it helps to have:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Your date and when you want to eat
  • Where the event is
  • What the venue already provides

Send us the date, your venue or ME1 postcode and guest numbers, plus any dietary needs, and you’ll get a menu idea and a price. Just fill in our quote form.

The process

From set-up to serving, we look after the food, so you’re free to enjoy your wedding. Any tapas or canapés are served first as the rice is cooking. In Burham, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:00pm, so an evening paella for evening guests is generally served in daylight in high summer. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it is dark by about 3:50pm.

  1. Tell us your date, venue and numbers.
  2. We plan your menu course by course.
  3. Timings are agreed with your venue.
  4. On the day, we cook and serve each course.
  5. We pack down, and staff stay as agreed.

Diets, allergies and planning

We take diets and allergies seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Ask about your date as soon as you have one
  • Choose pan-side or table service
  • Check the venue’s rules for outside caterers
  • Count day and evening guests separately

The pans are frequently set up where guests can see them, which makes a lovely backdrop for photos.

A table tapas starter gets everyone sharing.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.
