Wedding paella catering for your wedding in Aston

Timing is everything with paella: once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, and it’s best served right away. We plan it around your speeches and photos. Popular choices include canapé tapas, Spanish desserts and evening paella, and we’re regularly asked to cater civil partnerships and vow renewals and weddings with a Spanish theme.

Rural weddings around Aston have a magic of their own, and paella cooking in the open air adds to it. Plan for access and a wet-weather cover. Everything is cooked from scratch at your wedding, not reheated.

Prices and what affects them

Every event is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • How many courses
  • The number of people
  • Travel, parking and access
  • How long we are needed on site

The cost per head usually falls as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

What to tell us

When you get in touch, it helps to tell us:

  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff
  • The address or venue name
  • A photo of the cooking space, if it is a garden or field
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers

Getting a quote is simple: tell us the date, place, numbers and any dietary needs. We’ll send a clear, itemised quote and a suggested menu.

About the dishes

Desserts

Spanish desserts from churros to crema catalana.

Evening paella

Fresh pans for evening guests, served quickly so the party keeps going.

Diets, allergies and planning

Allergies and diets are taken seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Check the venue’s rules for outside caterers
  • Send us the running order and speech times
  • Count day and evening guests separately
  • Include any suppliers you are feeding

We generally set up where guests can watch, which makes a lovely backdrop for photos.

We can provide crockery and waiting staff if your venue does not.

Common questions in Aston

Do you come out to small places like Aston?

No, we cook in small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

What’s the nearest station to Aston for guests?

Henley-On-Thames station, about 1.7 miles south-west of the centre.

How much is live paella catering?

We quote for each event, so you only pay for what you need. Tell us your date and numbers and we’ll reply with a price.

How much paella per person?

Quantities depend on numbers, timing and courses, with a little extra built in. Give us accurate numbers for the best result.

What if our speeches run late?

Tell us and we will adjust. We stay in touch with your coordinator and time the rice so it’s served at its best.

How much space do you need?

A level space for the pans, burners and a serving table, outdoors or in a marquee or well-ventilated area, plus the venue’s agreement to cooking.

Do you do starters?

Of course. Canapé tapas with the drinks, or table tapas to share, served while the paella cooks.

Can you cook halal paella?

Yes. Halal paella is cooked with halal chicken and no pork or alcohol, in its own pan.

Working with your venue

If you’re organising for someone else, whether you are a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we will work directly with you and the venue. It keeps things simple.

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can hold the date.

Where we can cook in Aston

Most outdoor spaces and many venues work for live paella, but there are a few things to check:

  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
  • A cooking spot outside the marquee, not inside it
  • Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and we will say what we think before you book.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

The process

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so the timing is planned around your event. At midsummer, sunset in Aston is about 9:25pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:55pm, and in late September about 7:05pm.

  1. Share your date, venue, numbers and plans for the day.
  2. We build the menu course by course and send a quote.
  3. Timings are agreed with you and the venue, around speeches and photos.
  4. We cook live on the day and serve every course on cue.
  5. We clear our cooking area, and staff stay as agreed.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know the timings for the day
  • Arrange parking near the cooking spot
  • Give us a contact for the day
