Is live paella right for your wedding?
A plated wedding breakfast needs a kitchen and a large team. Live paella needs a level, ventilated spot and the venue’s permission, and feels more relaxed. The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, along with staff, extras and travel. Every event gets its own quote.

Working with your venue
Many venues have rules for outside caterers: cooking areas, access times and documents. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.
If you’re booking for a business, tell us how you’d like to handle the booking and payment, and we’ll explain how it works. We are happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.
DIY paella versus live catering
Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the cooking.
If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, keep the stock hot, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

- Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before booking.

How it works
When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so we time everything to your schedule. In Akeley, midsummer sunset is about 9:25pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:10pm, so an evening paella for evening guests is usually served in daylight in high summer. For autumn and winter weddings, when it is dark by about 3:55pm in December, plan lighting for the cooking area.
- We check availability for your date.
- You choose canapés, tapas, paellas and desserts.
- We confirm everything with your venue.
- The pans cook while guests enjoy the drinks.
- We serve, then pack down.
Preparing for the day
- Confirm numbers and diets before the day
- Give us a contact for the day
- Arrange a covered spot for wet weather

Planning for every diet
Paella is one of the easiest dishes for mixed diets, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. Here are a few tips for planning:
- Choose pan-side or table service
- Collect dietary needs on the RSVP
- Connect us with your coordinator
- Enquire early for peak dates
After service, we pack down our cooking area; any staff stay as long as agreed.
Add sangria, or bar staff to serve your own drinks.
What affects the price in Akeley
Your quote will be clear and itemised. The main things that affect it are:
- The paellas you choose
- How many courses
- Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
- Distance and access to the venue
Extras such as tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are priced separately, so you only pay for what you want.
Getting an accurate quote
You do not need everything decided to ask for a quote, but it helps to know:
- The address or venue name
- Whether the venue has crockery or staff
- Roughly how many adults and children
- Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
Every event is quoted individually, so the price fits what you actually want. To ask for one, fill in our quote form.
