What affects the price in Abbotsford

These are the factors that matter most:

  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • The length of service
  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood

Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you can choose exactly what you need.

What to tell us

You do not need every detail fixed to get a quote, but these help:

  • Where the event is
  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff
  • A picture of the cooking space, if it’s a garden or field
  • The date and time of the event

To get a price, send us your details through our quote form. Tell us about your wedding in Abbotsford, and we’ll suggest paellas and extras to suit.

Planning for every diet

Nearly every event has some special diets. To plan for them:

  • Check the venue’s rules for outside caterers
  • Let us know about meals for your band or photographer
  • Ask about your date as soon as you have one
  • Send us the running order and speech times

Fresh pans can be cooked for evening guests, timed for after the first dance.

Crockery, cutlery and waiting staff are available.

For planners, venues and organisers

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Hosting a party at home? Send a picture of the space and tell us about parking, and we’ll tell you honestly whether live paella will work.

Is live paella right for your wedding?

Food trucks serve one order at a time, which can mean long queues at a wedding. Paella is served quickly to many guests. The cost per head generally falls as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

Why book with us

  • Crockery and waiting staff if you need them
  • A quote that spells everything out
  • Hot food served quickly from the pan
  • Separate pans for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests

What happens on the day

Serving is fast: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so large groups are fed quickly. When service is finished, we pack down. In Abbotsford, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:05pm, which means evening paella is typically served in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it’s dark by about 3:55pm.

  1. You tell us your date, venue, guest numbers and how you picture the day.
  2. We build the menu course by course and send a quote.
  3. We agree timings with you and your venue, including speeches and photos.
  4. On the day, we set up, cook in front of your guests and serve each course.
  5. We pack down our cooking area, with staff staying as long as agreed.

Preparing for the day

  • Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable
  • Name one person we can ask on the day

Space, weather and the venue

The right spot keeps things safe and helps the paella cook evenly. We need:

  • Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover
  • Parking close enough to carry equipment
  • Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

Should I cook it myself?

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.

Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.
