Our paella catering in RH15

Everything is cooked from scratch on site, beginning with a sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, then the stock, saffron and rice. On the menu are vegan paella, paella Valenciana and chicken and chorizo paella, and typical bookings are for naming days and family parties and weddings and evening receptions.

On the day, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so we time everything to your schedule.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. We suggest paellas and extras and send a clear quote.
  3. Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day, we set up and cook in front of your guests.
  5. We serve from the pan, then pack down.

Prices in RH15

Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so your choice of paellas affects the total. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

Catering events across RH15

Town events mean planning parking; village events mean planning access. Parts of RH15 are within a few miles of the South Downs National Park, so check venue rules on vehicles and cooking for countryside events.

Burgess Hill: Historic houses near Burgess Hill include Ockenden Manor (3.4 miles north). If your event is at a historic house or estate, check its rules on caterers and cooking early. For guests coming by train, Burgess Hill station is in Burgess Hill itself. Evenings in Burgess Hill stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; once it is dark, we need light to cook and serve by.

Planning the cooking area

Safety and good cooking both depend on the spot we use. We look for:

  • A safe distance from anything that could catch
  • Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover
  • Parking close enough to carry equipment

Dietary needs and planning tips

Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because each paella is cooked in its own pan. A few tips:

  • Let us know if anyone has coeliac disease
  • Let us know about other food at the event
  • Collect dietary needs with your RSVPs
  • Plan seating for most guests: paella is easiest eaten sitting down

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We set up, cook and serve, and keep in touch with you or your venue about timings.

Finish with churros, crema catalana or tarta de Santiago.

For planners, venues and organisers

If you are planning an event on someone’s behalf, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep everyone informed on the day.

Should I cook it myself?

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. We’re happy to give you a quote to compare.

How we price paella catering

Your quote will be clear and itemised. The main things that affect it are:

  • Guest numbers
  • Waiting and bar staff
  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
  • Distance and access to the venue

Live paella frequently compares well with a sit-down meal, as there’s no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. We’ll send you a quote.

What we need to know

Good planning starts with a few facts. Please include:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • The venue or postcode
  • Which courses you have in mind
  • A picture of where we’d cook

Every event is quoted individually, so the price fits what you actually want. For a quote, fill in our quote form.
