Tapas catering for Wormley events

How our tapas catering works in Wormley

For standing receptions, canapés work best; for seated meals, table tapas. Lots of events do both. On the menu are padrón peppers, gambas al ajillo and Manchego with membrillo, and we’re regularly asked to cater drinks reception canapés and launches and office parties.

In a rural spot like Wormley, tapas can be served in a garden, barn or marquee. We cook every pan in full view of your guests, so it arrives hot and becomes part of the event.

How it works

When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. At midsummer, it is light in Wormley until about 9:20pm, ideal for tapas in the garden. In late September, sunset is about 7:05pm; winter receptions, dark by 3:55pm, are better indoors.

  1. Send us the date, venue and numbers.
  2. We suggest a selection and a quote.
  3. We set up and finish hot tapas on site.
  4. Canapés go round or tapas go to the tables.
  5. We clear our equipment afterwards.

Preparing for the day

  • Keep the cooking spot clear of fences, hedges and branches
  • Arrange parking near the cooking spot
  • Confirm the venue is happy with live cooking

For event organisers in Wormley

Hosting a party at home? Send a photo of the space and tell us about parking, and we will let you know if live paella is a good fit.

Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we will keep you updated on timings and set-up.

Should I cook it myself?

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. Common mistakes are mismatched pans and burners, overfilling and stirring. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

A DIY paella party works for small groups. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.

Before you choose a spot

Live paella is cooked over gas burners in large pans, so we need a suitable spot. These are the things we check:

  • Parking near the venue
  • A spot for our serving station
  • Permission from the venue

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

Questions from Wormley

Can you cater a reception after a service at Church of All Saints?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is usually elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.

Can you cook at venues in the Surrey Hills National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We’ll work to whatever the site needs.

Will there be enough food?

Quantities depend on numbers, timing and courses, with a little extra built in. Accurate numbers help.

Can you cater for children?

Yes, children are easy to cater for. Let us know numbers and ages, and we’ll plan a pan with them in mind.

How much tapas do we need?

It depends on whether they’re a starter, canapés or the whole meal. Tell us about the event and we will suggest quantities.

Can you supply plates?

We can. Let us know what you have, and we will quote for the rest.

How much space do you need?

A level space for the pans, burners and a serving table, in the open air or a ventilated covered area, plus the venue’s agreement to cooking.

What happens if it rains?

We need a covered spot, like a gazebo or open-sided marquee. We’ll agree a wet-weather plan with you.
