Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.

Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. We are happy to give you a quote to compare.

How it works

The paella is cooked in giant, shallow pans over gas burners. We need a level, ventilated spot, and we agree where that is before the day. At midsummer, it’s light in West Wellow until about 9:25pm, ideal for tapas in the garden. By late September it’s dark around 7:10pm, and in December by about 4:00pm.

  1. You tell us the date, venue, numbers and how you’d like the tapas served.
  2. We put together a tapas selection and a quote.
  3. We arrive, set up and finish hot dishes on site.
  4. Canapés go round with the drinks, or table tapas go out to share.
  5. We clear away our equipment when service is finished.

Preparing for the day

  • Ensure we can park close by to unload
  • Get the venue’s permission for cooking
  • Name one person we can ask on the day
