Tapas catering in Wellhouse, cooked live

Tapas are sharing food, made for conversation. We serve them in two ways: canapés carried round while guests mingle, or table tapas set down to share. Whether it is birthday drinks and cocktail parties, we’ll put together a menu of Manchego with membrillo, gambas al ajillo and tortilla española and more.

In a rural spot like Wellhouse, tapas can be served in a garden, barn or marquee. We serve straight from the pan, so it is hot and generous, and a queue moves quickly.

DIY paella versus live catering

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, keep the stock hot, and do not stir once the rice goes in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Ask us for a quote and compare.

Before you choose a spot

We will agree the cooking spot with you before the day. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:

  • A spot for our serving station
  • Room on tables for sharing dishes

Common questions in Wellhouse

Do you come out to small places like Wellhouse?

No, we cook in small places too. Let us know about access and parking.

Can you cater a reception after a service at Church of St Mary?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is typically elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.

Do you provide serving staff?

Staff make canapés work, which we can supply.

How many different paellas?

Two or three covers most guests. We’ll recommend a mix based on diets.

How much space do you need?

Level ground for the burners, pans and a table, outdoors or in a marquee or well-ventilated area, plus the venue’s agreement to cooking.

Do you do tapas on their own?

Absolutely.

Do you cater for young children?

Yes, children are easy to cater for. Let us know numbers and ages, and we will plan for them.

Can you bring crockery?

If you need them, yes. Proper crockery or quality disposables can be added to your booking.

How the day works

When the rice goes in, it’s left alone. That’s how the grains cook evenly and the toasted base, the socarrat, forms. The smell generally draws people over. A summer drinks reception in Wellhouse has daylight until about 9:25pm at midsummer, perfect for canapés outdoors. By late September it’s dark around 7:10pm, and in December by about 4:00pm.

  1. Tell us the date, venue and numbers.
  2. You get a selection and a price.
  3. We set up and finish the hot dishes.
  4. Canapés go round or tapas go to the tables.
  5. We clear our equipment afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Plan cover in case of rain
  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time
  • Have a level space ready for the pans
