How our tapas catering works in Three Ashes

Many classic tapas are naturally vegetarian, like tortilla and padrón peppers, and several can be made gluten-free. Whether it is tapas before paella and launches and office parties, we can cook padrón peppers, tortilla española and Serrano ham for your guests.

Near Three Ashes, tapas suit gardens, barns and marquees. All the cooking equipment comes with us, and we clear our cooking area away afterwards.

The process

Service is quick: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so large groups are fed quickly. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. A summer drinks reception in Three Ashes has daylight until about 9:25pm at midsummer, ideal for tapas in the garden. In late September, sunset is about 7:10pm; winter receptions, dark by 4:00pm, are better indoors.

  1. Tell us the date, venue and numbers.
  2. You get a selection and a price.
  3. We set up and finish hot tapas on site.
  4. Canapés go round or tapas go to the tables.
  5. We clear our equipment afterwards.

Your questions about tapas catering in Three Ashes

We’re having a ceremony at Church of St. Mary: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is normally elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.

Do you come out to small places like Three Ashes?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

How do you work out quantities?

It depends on whether they’re a starter, canapés or the whole meal. Tell us about the event and we will suggest quantities.

Do you cook tapas on site?

We finish hot dishes on site; cold tapas are laid out as guests arrive.

How long does the paella take?

We arrive well before serving to set up and start the stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, and we time it to your schedule.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

Yes, on request. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we cook a gluten-free paella separately.

Do you cook it at the event?

Yes, always. Every paella is cooked from scratch on site, where your guests can watch.

Who clears up?

We pack down our cooking area after service. Clearing guests’ plates and tables can be added with waiting staff.

Planning an event for a club, school or charity in Three Ashes? Live paella feeds a crowd quickly and suits most diets. Tell us about the event and we will suggest a menu.

Prices and what affects them

Each event is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Parking and unloading
  • How many guests are eating
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff

Live paella pricing depends on the event. A garden party lunch and a full wedding menu are very different jobs. We itemise everything in your quote.

Details that help

To speed things up, tell us:

  • The date and rough timings
  • The venue or postcode
  • Which courses you have in mind
  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff

We quote for each event separately, so you only pay for what you need. To ask for one, fill in our quote form.

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

Is live paella right for your event?

Nibbles fill a gap. Tapas are a real course. Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you can choose exactly what you need.
