Near Stoke Charity, tapas and sangria suit a garden or field party. The paella is served straight from the pan, so every plate is hot, and service is quick once it is ready.

What happens on the day
From set-up to serving, we look after the food, so you can enjoy your event. If you’ve chosen tapas or canapés, they go out first as the rice is cooking. At midsummer, it’s light in Stoke Charity until about 9:25pm, perfect for canapés outdoors. In late September, sunset is about 7:10pm; winter receptions, dark by 4:00pm, are better indoors.

Common questions in Stoke Charity
Do you come out to small places like Stoke Charity?
Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.
What’s the nearest station to Stoke Charity for guests?
The closest is Micheldever station, roughly 3 miles away.
Is the paella gluten-free?
We can cook a gluten-free paella in its own pan. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can plan it carefully.
Is it really cooked live?
Yes. We cook from scratch in large pans at your venue, in front of your guests.
Can you do sangria?
Sangria and bar staff can be added.
Can the paella be cooked in a hall?
Mostly outside or under an open cover, because we use gas burners. Some venues have suitable spaces; we’ll check with you and the venue.
How do you work out quantities?
We size the pans for your numbers and the rest of the menu. Tell us what else is being served. Our guide to portions explains more.
How soon do we need to book?
As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Ask about your date even if it is soon.
Organising for someone else?
Hosting a party at home? Send a picture of the space and tell us about parking, and we will tell you honestly whether live paella will work.
Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we’ll keep everyone informed on the day.

DIY paella versus live catering
Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.
If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and don’t stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.
What tapas catering costs
These are the factors that matter most:
- Parking and unloading
- The number of people
- Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
- The paellas you choose
Live paella pricing depends on the event. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. Your quote spells it all out.
What to tell us
