Tapas catering in New Pound, made fresh on the day

Tapas pair naturally with a live paella, as a starter while the rice cooks, but they work on their own too. Whether it’s anniversary parties and drinks reception canapés, we can cook gambas al ajillo, Serrano ham and tortilla española and more.

Near New Pound, tapas suit gardens, barns and marquees. Tapas, canapés, desserts, sangria and staff can all be added, so the whole menu comes from one caterer.

Catering for every guest

Few dishes handle mixed diets as well as paella, because every paella has its own pan. A few tips:

  • Plan more dishes if tapas are the meal
  • Pair tapas with sangria, cava or sherry
  • Separate seafood dishes from the rest
  • Canapés need staff to serve

Staff carry canapés round and keep boards topped up.

Follow tapas with a live paella.

Common questions in New Pound

Which station should guests use for New Pound?

Wateringbury station, about 2.8 miles south-east of the centre.

How far is New Pound from London?

Roughly 25 miles from the centre of London.

Can the paella be cooked in a hall?

Normally we cook outdoors or under a ventilated cover, because we use gas burners. Some venues have suitable spaces; we’ll check with you and the venue.

How much paella per person?

We size the pans for your numbers and the rest of the menu. Let us know about any other food. Our guide to portions explains more.

What space do you need to cook?

Not a lot: a level spot clear of fences, hedges and branches, with room for a serving table. Send us a picture if you are not sure.

Do you do tapas on their own?

Yes. Tapas can be booked without paella.

How long does the paella take?

We arrive well before serving to set up and start the stock. The rice itself takes about 20 minutes, timed around your event.

What if the weather’s bad?

We need a covered spot, like a gazebo or open-sided marquee. We’ll agree a wet-weather plan with you.

Dishes our guests love

Tortilla española

A thick potato and egg omelette served in wedges or squares.

Patatas bravas

Fried potatoes with spicy sauce, often with alioli.

Should I cook it myself?

You can hire equipment and do it yourself, but you will still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.

Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

There’s nothing hidden: the price is based on:

  • How many guests are eating
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables

The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, along with staff, extras and travel. We quote for each event individually.

To speed things up, tell us:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Expected numbers
  • The address or venue name

It is easy to get a price: share your date, venue, numbers and diets. We’ll come back with a clear quote.

How the day works

Once the rice is in, we don’t stir it. That’s what gives paella its separate grains and crispy base. The smell usually draws people over. A summer drinks reception in New Pound has daylight until about 9:20pm at midsummer, perfect for canapés outdoors. By late September it’s dark around 7:00pm, and in December by about 3:50pm.

  1. First, we check availability.
  2. You pick the style.
  3. We set up on arrival.
  4. We serve the spread.
  5. Afterwards, we clear up.
