Tapas are made for sharing and talking over. We serve them in two ways: canapés carried round while guests mingle, or table tapas set down to share. For receptions and drinks parties and drinks reception canapés, we can cook croquetas, padrón peppers and Manchego with membrillo for your guests.

For a country party near Horns Green, tapas and sangria set the mood. You can add tapas, desserts, sangria, bar staff and waiting staff, so one booking can cover the whole menu.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

You can hire equipment and do it yourself, but you will still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

What happens on the day

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. At midsummer, it is light in Horns Green until about 9:20pm, ideal for tapas in the garden. By late September it’s dark around 7:05pm, and in December by about 3:55pm.

  1. We check your date.
  2. You pick the style.
  3. We arrive and set up our station.
  4. We serve the spread.
  5. We clear away at the end.

Your questions about tapas catering in Horns Green

We’re having a ceremony at Church of St Peter and St Paul: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking typically happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

Can you cook at venues in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We’ll work to whatever the site needs.

Should we have more than one paella?

Most events have two or three: meat or mixed, seafood, and vegetable or vegan. We’ll help you decide the split.

Can you supply plates?

We can. Let us know what you have, and we’ll quote for the rest.

Is the paella cooked on site?

Yes. We bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients and cook on the day, then serve straight from the pan.

What do you need at the venue?

Less than you might think: a level spot clear of fences, hedges and branches, with room for a serving table. If in doubt, send a photo.

Are the tapas served hot?

We finish hot dishes on site; cold ones go out as guests arrive.

How much paella per person?

Pans are sized to your numbers and other courses. Tell us what else is being served. Our guide to portions explains more.

Diets, allergies and planning

With a little notice, every diet is easy. We suggest:

  • Widen the selection for a tapas-only menu
  • Decide whether tapas are a starter, canapés or the whole meal
  • Pair tapas with sangria, cava or sherry
  • Label vegetarian and allergen-free dishes

Hot tapas are finished on site and served straight away.

Spanish desserts to finish.

What we need at the venue

Most outdoor spaces and many venues work for live paella, but a few things matter:

  • Venue approval for outside catering
  • Access to unload near the serving area
  • Space for a serving table or station

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and we will say what we think.

What tapas catering costs

There are no hidden charges: the price is based on:

  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
  • The length of service
  • How many guests are eating

Compared with a plated meal, live paella is frequently good value, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. Ask us for a quote.

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what to include:

  • Anything your venue supplies
