Tapas catering for Funtley events

Tapas catering in Funtley, cooked live

Many classic tapas are naturally vegetarian, like tortilla and padrón peppers, and some can be gluten-free. Typical bookings include sharing boards for evening guests and tapas before paella, with albóndigas, patatas bravas and padrón peppers.

In a rural spot like Funtley, tapas can be served in a garden, barn or marquee. You can add tapas, desserts, sangria, bar staff and waiting staff, so the whole menu comes from one caterer.

Organising for someone else?

Events in public spaces, like parks, usually need permission. We’ll provide any information the landowner or council asks for.

For big numbers, we plan pans and serving points to keep queues short, so guests are fed quickly. Let us know how long the food break is.

Space, weather and the venue

Most outdoor spaces and many venues work for live paella, but there are a few things to check:

  • Room for a tapas table
  • Venue approval for outside catering
  • Table space for sharing dishes at seated meals

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and we will say what we think before booking.

Should I cook it myself?

You can cook paella for a crowd yourself, but it takes practice. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, keep the stock hot, and do not stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

How it works

Watching it cook is half the fun. We start with the sofrito, add the stock and saffron, then spread the rice across the pan and leave it alone to cook while your guests chat. Sunset in Funtley is around 9:20pm in June, so canapés can go round outdoors on a summer evening.

  1. Send us the date, venue and numbers.
  2. We suggest a selection and a quote.
  3. We set up and finish hot tapas on site.
  4. Canapés go round or tapas go to the tables.
  5. We clear our equipment afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Leave space around the cooking area
  • Make sure we can park close by to unload
  • Arrange a covered spot for wet weather
