Climping: your questions answered

Is Climping too small for live paella?

No, we cook in small places too. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.

We are having a ceremony at The Parish Church of St Mary: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is typically elsewhere. Send us the reception address.

How much does tapas catering cost in Climping?

Every event is quoted individually, so you only pay for what you need. Tell us your date and numbers and we will reply with a price.

Can you do gluten-free paella?

A gluten-free pan is no problem. Tell us about any coeliac guests when you book so we take the right care.

Can you bring crockery?

Yes, on request. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables are available.

Is tapas catering available separately?

Yes, tapas work on their own, for receptions, parties and evening food.

Should we have more than one paella?

Usually two or three, so every guest has a choice. We will recommend a mix based on diets.

Do you provide serving staff?

Staff make canapés work, which we can supply.

How the day works

We take care of the food from set-up to service, so you are free to enjoy your event. If you’ve chosen tapas or canapés, they go out first while the paella cooks. Evening receptions in Climping stay light until about 8:50pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June, so canapés can go round outdoors on a summer evening.

  1. We check your date.
  2. You choose canapés, table tapas or both.
  3. We arrive and set up our station.
  4. Hot and cold tapas are served.
  5. Afterwards, we clear up.

Preparing for the day

  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
  • Choose a level spot for the cooking area
  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time

Getting a price

It’s easy to get a price: tell us the date, place, numbers and any dietary needs. We’ll send a clear, itemised quote.

How we price tapas catering

The same guest numbers can mean different prices, because of:

  • The number of people
  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • The length of service
  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood

Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you only pay for what you want.

What we need to know

To check availability and price, we need:

  • A photo of the cooking space, if it is a garden or field
  • Your date and when you want to eat
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • Any dietary needs and allergies

Most quotes start with a few simple details: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. You can use our quote form.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, have hot stock ready, and don’t stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Diets, allergies and planning

Allergies and diets are taken seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Ask guests about diets and allergies
  • Label seafood clearly
  • Canapés need staff to serve
  • Decide whether tapas are a starter, canapés or the whole meal

Tapas go out to the tables.

Where we can cook in Climping

Live paella is cooked over gas burners in large pans, so the cooking area needs a little planning. These are the things we check:

  • A suitable spot to finish hot tapas
  • Parking near the venue
  • Venue approval for outside catering

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Tapas can be a starter, a reception or the whole meal, which makes them easy to plan around. There’s no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A garden party lunch and a full wedding menu are very different jobs. Your quote spells it all out.
