Live tapas catering in Basted
Tapas catering in Basted, made fresh on the day
We can add sangria and bar staff, so drinks and nibbles come from one booking. Popular choices include albóndigas, patatas bravas and padrón peppers, and we’re frequently booked for engagement drinks and tapas starters.
In a rural spot like Basted, tapas can be served in a garden, barn or marquee. We plan the timings around your day, so the paella is ready when you want to eat.
The process
We work to your timings. If things run behind, we adjust the cooking so it’s still served fresh. Sunset in Basted is around 9:20pm in June, so canapés can go round outdoors on a summer evening.
- First, we check availability.
- You choose canapés, table tapas or both.
- We set up on arrival.
- We serve the spread.
- We clear away at the end.
Getting ready for the day
- Confirm numbers and diets before the day
- Arrange a covered spot for wet weather
- Make sure we can park close by to unload

Organising for someone else?
Events in public spaces, like parks, usually need permission. We’ll provide any information the landowner or council asks for.
For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can hold the date.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?
You can hire equipment and do it yourself, but you will still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. We take care of all of it.
Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.
Space, weather and the venue
If a space isn’t suitable, we’ll tell you, and suggest an alternative. What matters most:
- Venue approval for outside catering
- Space for a serving table or station
- Room on tables for sharing dishes
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise.

Basted: your questions answered
We are having a ceremony at The Church of the Good Shepherd: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking normally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.
Which station should guests use for Basted?
The closest is Borough Green & Wrotham station, roughly 0.9 miles away.
What does tapas catering cost?
The price depends on numbers, menu, courses, staff and travel. Send us the details for a quote.
How long does the paella take?
We arrive well before serving to set up and start the stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, timed around your event.
Can you supply plates?
Yes, on request. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables can be added to your booking.
Do you cook it at the event?
It is. We bring the pans, burners and fresh ingredients and cook it there and then, then serve straight from the pan.
Can you cook halal paella?
We can. Tell us how many guests need halal food, and it is cooked separately.
Can you cook in the rain?
We cook under cover, such as a gazebo, marquee or open-sided barn with good ventilation. We plan for rain with you in advance.

How we price tapas catering
Live paella pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:
- How many courses
- Timings and hours
- Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood
- Parking and unloading
Live paella pricing depends on the event. A garden party lunch and a full wedding menu are very different jobs. We itemise everything in your quote.
Details that help
You do not need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:
- The courses you’d like
- Anything your venue supplies
- Where the event is
- A picture of the cooking space, if it’s a garden or field
Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many guests, plus any dietary needs, and you’ll get a menu idea and a price. Just send us your details through our quote form.
Live paella or other catering?
For food that gets people mingling, tapas work brilliantly. Compared with a plated meal, live paella is often good value, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. Ask us for a quote.
