Paella catering across ME6

The cooking is half the fun. Guests gather round as the sofrito sizzles and the saffron colours the rice, and the aroma does the rest. We’re frequently asked to cater engagement and anniversary parties and weddings, from canapés to evening food, with mixed paella, vegan paella and black rice.

We work to your timings. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, we adjust the cooking so it is still served fresh.

  1. You share your date, numbers and venue.
  2. We plan the menu with you, including every diet.
  3. We arrive early to set up the burners and pans.
  4. The paella cooks as guests gather round.
  5. We serve hot from the pan and clear our cooking area.

Local landmarks in Snodland

In Snodland, that can mean a party near Snodland CofE Primary School, The Monks Head pub and Church of the New Jerusalem and the streets around them. Other local landmarks include The Holmesdale School (under half a mile south) and Holborough Marshes (0.7 miles north-east). Snodland has its own railway station: Snodland station. Well-known places in the area include Leybourne Castle (1.9 miles south-west) and Medway megaliths (2.8 miles east). Not far away are Burham Down and Blue Bell Hill.

Live paella across ME6: what to know

ME6 covers everything from Snodland, Holborough and Paddlesworth to 1 small villages and hamlets, and live paella suits every kind of setting. In towns, plan parking and access; in villages, tell us about lanes and ground.

Snodland: Historic houses near Snodland include Starkey Castle (2.5 miles north) and Cobham College (4.5 miles north-west). Historic venues often limit cooking, so ask early if you are booking one. If you’re celebrating after a service at a church like Church of the New Jerusalem, live paella at a garden or venue nearby works well. In Snodland, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:00pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:50pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

For planners, venues and organisers

Hosting a party at home? Send us a picture of the garden and tell us about access, and we’ll tell you honestly whether live paella will work.

For big numbers, we plan pans and serving points to keep queues short, so everyone eats promptly. Tell us how long you have for food.

DIY paella versus live catering

Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the cooking.

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, keep the stock hot, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

Live paella or other catering?

With a barbecue, food comes in waves. Paella is cooked as one big dish and served together.

Comparing caterers

  • Whether crockery, cutlery and napkins are included
  • When payment is due
  • Space, access and power needs
  • What happens if it rains

Before you choose a spot

The right spot keeps things safe and helps the paella cook evenly. We need:

  • Confirmation that open cooking is allowed
  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
  • Open air or a well-ventilated covered spot

ME6: your questions answered

Does paella work for big events?

Yes, that is what it is made for. We size pans and serving points to your guest list.

Should we have more than one paella?

Two or three covers most guests. We will recommend a mix based on diets.

Which paellas do you recommend?

That depends on who’s coming. Chicken and mixed paellas tend to go first, alongside seafood and vegetable or vegan pans.

Will there be enough food?

We size the pans for your numbers and the rest of the menu. Let us know about any other food. Our guide to portions explains more.

How long does the paella take?

We get there in good time to set up. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, timed around your event.

Is paella a full meal?

It can be. With bread and salad, paella is a complete main, and tapas or dessert can be added.

Do you bring everything you need?

Pans, burners and ingredients all come with us. You provide a suitable spot and access.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
