Paella catering in CT2

About paella catering in CT2

One cooking area feeds plenty of people, there’s very little waste, and the food arrives hot. That is why it works for so many events. Popular choices include vegan paella, black rice and chicken and chorizo paella, and we’re often booked for anniversary celebrations and garden get-togethers.

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so we time everything to your schedule.

  1. You tell us the date, venue, guest numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. You get a suggested menu and an itemised quote.
  3. On the day we arrive in good time, set up and start the stock.
  4. The paella cooks in front of your guests, with tapas first if you’ve chosen them.
  5. It’s served straight from the pan, and we pack down afterwards.

Live paella across CT2: what to know

There are 3 towns and 11 villages and hamlets in CT2, so the setting can be anything from Canterbury, Wincheap and Sturry to a quiet hamlet: a level, ventilated spot and a clear plan. Around 13 places in CT2 are close to the coast, where we always plan shelter from the wind.

Sturry: If you are celebrating after a service at a church like St Nicholas' Church, live paella at a garden or venue nearby works well. Parks such as Chequer's Wood and Old Park typically need the owner’s permission for cooking, so ask before you plan a party there. In Sturry, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:00pm in late September, so summer evening events are generally served in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:50pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

Planning for every diet

With a little notice, every diet is easy. We suggest:

  • Plan seating for most guests: paella is easiest eaten sitting down
  • Tell us what else is being served
  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Collect dietary needs with your RSVPs

Once everyone is fed, we clear our cooking area.

Finish with churros, crema catalana or tarta de Santiago, or serve your own cake.

Before you choose a spot

Most gardens and venues can host live paella, but there are a few things to check:

  • Parking close enough to carry equipment
  • Confirmation that open cooking is allowed
  • Clearance from fences, hedges, branches and anything flammable

The menu, dish by dish

Paella Valenciana

In Valencia, the recipe is fiercely debated. The traditional pan has chicken, flat green beans and butter beans.

Seafood paella

The secret is a well-made seafood stock. The shellfish is added late so it stays tender.

What affects the price in CT2

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • Whether you need crockery
  • Travel, parking and access
  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood

Premium seafood costs more than chicken or vegetables, so the menu you choose affects the price. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

What we need to know

To check availability and price, we need:

  • Expected numbers
  • The date and time of the event
  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • The venue or postcode

To get a price, fill in our quote form. Tell us about your event in CT2, and we will put together a menu and price.

Which paellas suit our guests?
