DIY paella versus live catering

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but you’ll still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

Why choose paella party catering in Pimlico?

It feels like a holiday in your own garden.

  • Engagement and anniversary parties

  • Big birthdays
  • Wakes and celebrations of life

What we need at the venue

The right spot keeps things safe and helps the paella cook evenly. We need:

  • Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site
  • A quick photo of the spot helps us plan
  • Level ground for the pans and burners

As a London location, Pimlico is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

For a party that feels a little special without being formal, live paella fits perfectly. Live paella often compares well with a sit-down meal, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. Ask us for a quote.

What you get with us

  • Separate pans for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests
  • Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks
  • Everything cooked fresh at your event
  • Crockery and waiting staff if you need them

How the day works

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so we time everything to your schedule. Sunset in Pimlico is about 8:50pm in late May and 9:20pm in late June. If the party runs past dark, we’ll need light where we cook and serve.

  1. Tell us when and where, and how many.
  2. You get a menu and a quote.
  3. We arrive before your guests and set up.
  4. The paella cooks while your guests chat.
  5. We serve, then clear our area.

Pimlico questions

We’re having a ceremony at St Gabriel's: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking typically happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

Can you cook in Pimlico Gardens?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council. Ask them first, and we’ll send any information they need.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes, and meat eaters frequently go back for seconds. They have their own pans, stock and spoons.

Do you take everything away?

We pack down our cooking area after service. Waiting staff can clear tables if you book them.

How early should we book?

The sooner the better, but it’s always worth asking. We’ll check availability right away.

Can you cater a party at a village hall?

Generally, if there’s outdoor space to cook. Check the venue allows live cooking.

Does it make a lot of smoke?

Paella is cooked over gas, so there’s cooking steam and smell but little smoke. The smell is usually the best advert for the party.

Can you serve drinks?

Yes, sangria. We can also supply bar staff for your own drinks.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
