About our paella party catering in New Zealand

Paella is relaxed food: it’s served from the pan and shared, so nobody needs a formal seating plan. For family reunions and wakes and memorial gatherings, we can cook churros, mixed paella and vegetable paella and more.

Near New Zealand, parties are frequently in gardens or fields. Let us know about access, and we’ll plan the set-up. All the cooking equipment comes with us, and we clear our cooking area away afterwards.

How it works

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. Sunset in New Zealand is about 8:55pm in late May and 9:25pm in late June. If the party runs past dark, we’ll need light where we cook and serve.

  1. First, we check the date and the space.
  2. You pick paellas, tapas and desserts.
  3. The burners go on and the sofrito starts.
  4. The rice goes in and your guests gather round.
  5. We serve hot and tidy our area afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Give us your final numbers and diets
  • Arrange parking near the cooking spot
  • Name one person we can ask on the day

New Zealand parties: what to know

New Zealand is about 1 mile west of Elmhurst, in Buckinghamshire. Across the HP19 area, we can cook for your guests. New Zealand is one of 263 towns and villages in Buckinghamshire where we cook. We cook right across the region, from New Zealand to Milton Keynes (15 miles away).

Christenings and naming days often start at a local church such as St Peter's, with a paella lunch at home or in a hall afterwards. The Chilterns National Landscape is within about 6 miles of New Zealand, so a garden party here comes with a lovely backdrop.

Anywhere in HP19 and HP20, we can cook for your guests, from busy streets to quiet lanes. From Dunsham Lane, Drayton Road and Cannock Road or anywhere nearby, we will bring the pans to you. If your venue is just outside New Zealand, we also cover Elmhurst (1 mile east), Aylesbury (1 mile south), Watermead (1 mile north-east), Quarrendon Estate (1 mile west) and California (1 mile south). Further out, we also cater in High Wycombe (14 miles south), Chesham (12 miles south-east), Buckingham (14 miles north-west), Amersham (14 miles south-east), Princes Risborough (7 miles south) and Haddenham (6 miles south-west).

Well-known places in the area include Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital (less than half a mile south) and Dinton Castle (3.8 miles south-west).

  • Nearby schools include The PACE Centre (0.6 miles west) and Buckinghamshire UTC (0.8 miles south-west)
  • Pubs nearby include The New Zealand pub (under half a mile south)

Should I cook it myself?

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right at scale is tricky. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us cook.

Tapas

New Zealand questions

Do you cater in the Chilterns National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We will work to whatever the site needs.

How far is New Zealand from London?

Roughly 38 miles from the centre of London.

Do you come to New Zealand?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, including New Zealand. For a quote, fill in our quote form.

Is my garden big enough?

Most gardens are fine. We need level ground, clearance and access. Send us a picture.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

We can, if you tell us in advance. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we make a separate gluten-free pan.

Is it really cooked live?

Yes. Every paella is cooked from scratch on site, in front of your guests.

Is halal food available?

Yes, we do. Halal paella is cooked with halal chicken and no pork or alcohol, in a separate pan.

Is paella OK for kids?

Of course. A simple chicken paella goes down well with children. Tell us how many children are coming.
