Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but you’ll still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Paella compared with other options

A buffet takes hours to prepare and leaves food sitting out. Paella is cooked fresh and served hot. The cost per head usually falls as numbers rise, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we will quote.

Why Brambridge hosts choose us

  • Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks
  • Add tapas, canapés and Spanish desserts
  • Cooking your guests will gather round to watch
  • Plates, cutlery and waiting staff available

Organising for someone else?

Planners and coordinators can contact us directly, and we will keep you updated on timings and set-up.

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can hold the date.

How the day works

Your timings come first. If things run behind, we adjust the cooking so it is still served fresh. A summer party in Brambridge stays light until about 9:25pm at midsummer, so a garden party can run well into the evening. In late September it’s dark by about 7:10pm; add lights for the evening.

  1. We check your date and the space.
  2. You pick paellas, tapas and desserts.
  3. The burners go on and the sofrito starts.
  4. The rice goes in and your guests gather round.
  5. We serve hot and tidy our area afterwards.

Catering for every guest

Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included. To get it right:

  • Make sure most people can sit to eat
  • Keep a clear zone around the cooking area
  • Give separate numbers for children
  • Plan a covered spot for wet weather

The cooking area stays tidy and safe, with space kept clear around the burners.

Plates, cutlery and waiting staff can be added.

Space, weather and the venue

We will be honest if a space won’t work, and help find another spot. What matters most:

  • Parking close enough to carry equipment
  • A level, firm spot for the burners and pans
  • Confirmation that open cooking is allowed

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and we will say what we think before booking.
