Paella catering in Toddington, cooked live

Paella has always been food for a crowd: cooked outdoors in a wide, shallow pan and shared. That is what we bring to events in Toddington. On the menu are vegan paella, vegetable paella and mixed paella, and we’re regularly asked to cater summer garden parties and engagement and anniversary parties.

For a place the size of Toddington, your own garden is often the best venue: no venue hire, and nobody stuck cooking. Let us know about access to the house. We serve straight from the pan, so it’s hot and generous, and service is quick once it is ready.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Vans serve one order at a time. A big pan serves many guests fast, which suits weddings and parties where everyone eats together. Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: staff, crockery, bread and salads, travel and VAT. Our quotes spell it all out.

What you get with us

  • Starters and desserts to complete the menu
  • We cover Toddington and the whole of West Sussex
  • Every diet catered for, pan by pan
  • Plates, cutlery and waiting staff available

See Our pricing And The cost guide.

Diets, allergies and planning

Nearly every event has some special diets. To cater well for them:

  • Request clear labels at the serving table
  • Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
  • Plan seating for most guests: paella is easiest eaten sitting down
  • Count adults and children separately

Let the paella rest for a few minutes before serving, which is when we generally call guests over.

Finish with churros, crema catalana or tarta de Santiago, or serve your own cake.

The process

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, set up the pans and burners, and get on with cooking and serving. Around midsummer it stays light in Toddington until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it is dark by about 4:00pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. You get a suggested menu and an itemised quote.
  3. We arrive early, set up the cooking area and start the stock.
  4. The paella cooks in front of your guests, with tapas first if you’ve chosen them.
  5. It is served straight from the pan, and we pack down afterwards.

How to prepare

  • Get the venue’s permission for cooking
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
  • Name one person we can ask on the day

Prices and what affects them

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • Parking and unloading
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
  • The number of people

The cost per head typically falls as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

Details that help

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what to include:

  • The date and time of the event
  • The courses you’d like
  • A picture of the space, if you can
  • Where the event is

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many guests, plus any dietary needs, and you will get a menu idea and a price. To get started, fill in our quote form.
