Paella catering near Timsbury

About our paella catering in Timsbury

The cooking is half the fun. Guests gather round as the sofrito sizzles and the saffron colours the rice, and the aroma does the rest. For staff parties and work lunches and engagement and anniversary parties, we will put together a menu of mixed paella, seafood paella and paella Valenciana.

Somewhere as small as Timsbury, a garden or field is often the venue. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives and we will plan for them, and a firm spot near where we park makes set-up easier. We serve straight from the pan, so every plate is hot, and a queue moves quickly.

DIY paella versus live catering

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles separate pans for each diet.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

Timsbury: venues, travel and local tips

Nearby historic houses include Mottisfont Abbey (1.6 miles north-west). Historic venues often limit cooking, so ask early if you are booking one. For a christening or wedding at a church such as Church of St Andrew, a paella lunch or reception nearby is an easy way to feed everyone.

Why choose live paella in Timsbury?

Next to a hog roast or barbecue, paella makes vegetarian, vegan and halal guests easier to cater for, thanks to separate pans. It’s served quickly from the pan, so queues move. If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we will suggest a menu to match. Even a simple menu can be a feast.

Why us?

Catering for every guest

Most events have a mix of diets. To plan for them:

  • Have seats for most of your guests
  • Collect dietary needs with your RSVPs
  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Let us know about other food at the event

Paella is best eaten as soon as it is ready, so we plan service for when guests are ready to eat.

Bread, salad and lemon wedges make the meal go further.

Space, weather and the venue

Most gardens and venues can host live paella, but there are a few things to check:

  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
  • Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site
  • Open air or a well-ventilated covered spot

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly.

Questions from Timsbury

Which station should guests use for Timsbury?

Mottisfont & Dunbridge station, about 1.8 miles west of the centre.

Is Timsbury close to London?

Roughly 69 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

What is live paella catering?

We set up a cooking area at your venue, cook the paella from scratch in large pans while your guests watch, and serve it straight from the pan.

Does paella work for big events?

It is ideal. Large pans and fast service from the pan make it well suited to crowds.

Can you do gluten-free paella?

We can, if you tell us in advance. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we make a separate gluten-free pan.

Can you cook indoors?

Mostly outside or under an open cover, since the burners are gas. Some venues have suitable spaces; we’ll check with you and the venue.

Do you cater for young children?

Children are welcome. Tell us how many and roughly how old, and we will plan a pan with them in mind.

Is paella enough as a main?

It can be. With bread and salad, paella is a complete main, and tapas or dessert can be added.

Step by step

We cook over gas burners in wide, shallow pans. We need a level, ventilated spot, which we agree with you beforehand. In Timsbury, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it’s dark by about 4:00pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. Get in touch with the basics: when, where and how many.
  2. Expect a menu idea and a clear, itemised price.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm timings and the cooking spot.
  4. We set up, cook from scratch and keep an eye on your timings.
  5. Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.

How to prepare

  • Let us know the timings for the day
  • Have a level space ready for the pans
  • Ensure we can park close by to unload

About the dishes

Black rice

Black rice gets its colour from squid ink, and is typically served with alioli. It is a striking addition to a seafood menu.

Paella Valenciana

The original paella from Valencia is a countryside dish of chicken and vegetables, not seafood. It is frequently the most popular pan at an event.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
