Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, keep the stock hot, and do not stir once the rice goes in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Paella catering in Piddington, cooked live

Two or three pans side by side cover every guest: meat, seafood and vegetarian or vegan paellas. Each is cooked separately. We are often asked to cater weddings and evening receptions and milestone birthday parties, with seafood paella, vegan paella and mixed paella.

In a hamlet or village like Piddington, your own garden or a neighbour’s field can make a wonderful venue. Gates, verges and soft ground are worth mentioning when you enquire. Each paella is cooked from scratch on the day, never made in advance and reheated, and served the moment it is ready.

Live paella or other catering?

Compared with a hog roast or barbecue, live paella is easier for vegetarian, vegan and halal guests, because each paella has its own pan. It’s served quickly from the pan, so queues move. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so the menu you choose affects the price. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

What you get with us

  • A clear, itemised quote
  • Starters and desserts to complete the menu
  • Live cooking, not reheated food
  • Separate pans for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests

What affects the price in Piddington

These are the factors that matter most:

  • How many guests are eating
  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
  • Staff: cooks, waiting staff and bar staff
  • The paellas you choose

The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, plus any staff, crockery and travel. Every event gets its own quote.

Details that help

When you contact us, it helps to tell us:

  • The venue or postcode
  • Which courses you have in mind
  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff
  • A picture of where we’d cook

The quickest way to a quote is to use our quote form. Give us the details of your event, and we will put together a menu and price.

Before you choose a spot

We cook in large pans over gas burners, so the cooking area needs a little planning. These are the things we check:

  • Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo
  • Access for unloading near the cooking spot
  • A safe distance from anything that could catch

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Menu ideas

  • Mixed paella
  • Vegetable paella
  • Vegan paella
  • Chicken & chorizo paella
  • Black rice (arroz negro)
  • Seafood paella

Organising for someone else?

If you’re booking for a business, tell us how you’d like to handle the booking and payment, and we’ll explain how it works. We can work with your facilities team on access and timings.

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We can send whatever the landowner or council needs from us.

The menu, dish by dish

Paella Valenciana

The original paella from Valencia is a countryside dish of chicken and vegetables, not seafood. It’s a favourite with guests who don’t eat fish.

Mixed paella

Chicken and seafood together.

How it works

Service is quick: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so large groups are fed quickly. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. In Piddington, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. You share your date, numbers and venue.
  2. We plan a menu that covers every diet.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. The sofrito, stock and rice go in, and guests gather to watch.
  5. We serve hot from the pan and clear our cooking area.

How to prepare

  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Check the venue allows live cooking
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
