Paella catering near Osney

About the dishes

Vegetable and vegan paella

A slow sofrito, seasonal vegetables and a good vegetable stock make a proper main dish. For vegans, the stock is plant-based.

Paella Valenciana

In Valencia, the recipe is fiercely debated. The classic version is chicken, green beans and butter beans with saffron.

About our paella catering in Osney

We cook every paella from scratch on the day, beginning with a sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, then the stock, saffron and rice. We’re often asked to cater retirement and leaving parties and community events and fairs, serving mixed paella, seafood paella and paella Valenciana.

Around Osney, events are frequently in gardens, local halls or nearby venues. If access is tight, we will plan around it. Your quote spells out exactly what’s included: menu, staff, crockery and anything else you choose, with no surprises on the day.

Diets, allergies and planning

We take diets and allergies seriously. Here’s how you can help:

  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Make sure most guests can sit to eat
  • Flag any coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Put allergy details in writing

If you’ve booked staff, they’ll serve, clear and help keep things moving, so you can enjoy your guests.

Tapas or canapés make a good start as the rice cooks.

Common questions in Osney

We are having a ceremony at St Frideswide's Church: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is usually elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.

How far is Osney from London?

Roughly 54 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

Is the paella cooked on site?

It is. We arrive with everything we need and cook on the day, serving it hot from the pan.

Can you bring crockery?

We can. Tell us what your venue provides and we will include the rest in the quote.

Do we need to provide equipment?

We bring the pans, burners and ingredients. You provide a suitable spot and access.

Where do you cater?

London and the South East: Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight.

What space do you need to cook?

Not a lot: a flat spot away from anything flammable, with space to serve. Send us a picture if you are not sure.

Do you have a kids’ option?

Yes, children are easy to cater for. Tell us how many and roughly how old, and we will plan for them.

Planners, venues and businesses

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: cooking areas, access times and documents. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

Hosting a party at home? Send a photo of the space and tell us about parking, and we’ll let you know if live paella is a good fit.

How it works

The paella is cooked in giant, shallow pans over gas burners. It needs a level spot with some shelter and good ventilation, which we agree with you beforehand. Planning an evening event in Osney? Sunset is around 9:00pm in late May, 9:25pm at midsummer and 7:10pm in late September; after dark, the cooking and serving areas need good lighting.

  1. Contact us with the basics: when, where and how many.
  2. We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm timings and the cooking spot.
  4. On the day we cook live, timed around your event.
  5. Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.

Preparing for the day

  • Have a level space ready for the pans
  • Leave space around the cooking area
  • Give us your final numbers and diets

Paella compared with other options

Compared with a hog roast or barbecue, live paella is easier for vegetarian, vegan and halal guests, because each paella has its own pan. It’s served quickly from the pan, so queues move. Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you can choose exactly what you need.
