Planning an event in Northfields?

Cook it yourself or book a caterer?

Some hosts like to cook themselves. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the cooking.

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, keep the stock hot, and leave the rice alone once it is in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

Paella catering in Northfields, made fresh on the day

Paella has always been food for a crowd: cooked in the open in a big, shallow pan and shared straight from it. That is exactly what we bring to your event in Northfields. Typical bookings include company summer parties and leaving dos and retirements, serving paella Valenciana, mixed paella and chicken and chorizo paella.

In Northfields, events range from terrace gardens to hired halls. Tell us how close we can park and about any steps. Every pan is cooked in front of your guests, so it arrives hot and becomes part of the event.

Seafood paella with mussels, prawns and saffron rice in a very large pan

A closer look at the menu

Seafood paella

Seafood paella starts with a good fish and shellfish stock. Shellfish goes in towards the end so it stays tender.

Black rice

Squid ink rice is bold and savoury.

Space, weather and the venue

Live paella is cooked over gas burners in large pans, so we need a suitable spot. Here’s what we look for:

  • The venue’s permission for live cooking
  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
  • Open air or a well-ventilated covered spot

Northfields is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we’ll advise before you book.

Menu ideas

  • Black rice (arroz negro)
  • Paella Valenciana

Working with your venue

For big numbers, we plan pans and serving points to keep queues short, so everyone eats promptly. Tell us how long you have for food.

Organising a club, school or community event in Northfields? Paella is quick to serve to a crowd and suits most diets. Tell us about the event and we’ll suggest a menu.

Catering for every guest

We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests. To get it right:

  • Put allergy details in writing
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically
  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice

If you’ve booked staff, they’ll serve, clear and help keep things moving, so you can relax.

Tapas or canapés make a good start as the rice cooks.

Your questions about paella catering in Northfields

Could we have live paella in Lammas Park?

Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.

We are having a ceremony at Avenue Theatre: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Live cooking generally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

Are premium seafood options available?

Tell us your preferences and we’ll suggest seafood options to suit your menu and budget. Premium options are available.

Can you bring crockery?

Yes, if you need them. Tell us what your venue provides and we’ll include the rest in the quote.

How far ahead should we book?

As soon as you have a date. Peak dates go quickly, so it pays to ask early.

How long does the paella take?

It depends on the menu and numbers. We agree the timings in advance so the paella is ready when you want it.

How much does paella catering cost in Northfields?

Every event is quoted individually, based on what you actually want. Tell us your date and numbers and we’ll reply with a price.

Can you serve tapas as well?

Yes. Canapé tapas with the drinks, or table tapas to share, while the rice is cooking.

How we price paella catering

Each event is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Waiting and bar staff
  • Timings and hours
  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Your choice of paellas

Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you can choose exactly what you need.

What we need to know

The more we know about your event, the better we can plan. Please include:

  • What the venue already provides
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
  • Where the event is
  • A picture of the space, if you can

Most quotes start with a few simple details: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. To send them, use our quote form.

Live paella or other catering?

Barbecues cook in batches, so food comes off in waves. Paella is cooked as one big dish and served together. Live paella frequently compares well with a sit-down meal, as there is no kitchen to hire and fewer staff to pay. We will send you a quote.

What you get with us

  • Crockery and waiting staff if you need them
  • Add tapas, canapés and Spanish desserts
  • Hot food served quickly from the pan
  • Paella cooked from scratch on site

Step by step

Service is quick: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so even a long queue moves. When service is finished, we pack down. In Northfields, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. Start with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. Expect a menu idea and a clear, itemised price.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm timings and the cooking spot.
  4. We set up, cook from scratch and keep an eye on your timings.
  5. Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Choose a level spot for the cooking area
  • Confirm the venue is happy with live cooking
  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
