Paella catering in Newton Valence

About our paella catering in Newton Valence

We cook every paella from scratch on the day, beginning with a sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, followed by stock, saffron and rice. We are frequently asked to cater wedding breakfasts and evening food and garden get-togethers, with black rice, vegetable paella and mixed paella.

In a small place like Newton Valence, events are normally in a garden, a field or a nearby hall. Tell us about narrow lanes or long drives and we’ll plan for them, and a firm spot near where we park makes set-up easier. We plan the timings around your day, so the paella is ready when you want to eat.

Whatever the occasion, paella can be the star of the food. We regularly cater:

Questions to ask before booking

  • The venue requirements
  • How each diet is kept separate
  • How long the team stays
  • When final numbers are due

How to compare caterers

Diets, allergies and planning

Paella is one of the easiest dishes for mixed diets, because every paella has its own pan. A few tips:

  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Mention any other courses or food
  • Request clear labels at the serving table
  • Confirm allergies by email

On the day, you shouldn’t have to think about the food. We set up, cook and serve, and stay in touch with your venue about timings.

Need plates or staff? We can provide them.

Planning the cooking area

We will be honest if a space won’t work. The main points are:

  • Confirmation that open cooking is allowed
  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
  • Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and we’ll say what we think before you book.

The menu, dish by dish

Black rice

Squid ink rice is bold and savoury.

Vegetable and vegan paella

The vegetable pan is a dish in its own right: artichokes, beans, peppers and saffron, cooked in its own pan.

For planners, venues and organisers

Events in public spaces, like parks, typically need permission. We’ll provide any information the landowner or council asks for.

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can hold the date.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Barbecues cook in batches, so food comes off in waves. Paella is cooked as one big dish and served together. Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed before you book.

Why book with us

  • Waiting staff and crockery on request
  • Real theatre, not just catering
  • Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks
  • A quote that spells everything out

See Our prices page Or Our guide to catering costs.

What happens on the day

When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so we time everything to your schedule. Evenings in Newton Valence stay light until about 9:20pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:05pm; once it is dark, we need light to cook and serve by.

  1. We start with a few details about your event.
  2. You get a menu and an itemised quote.
  3. Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day, we set up and cook in front of your guests.
  5. It is served straight from the pan, and we clear our area afterwards.

Prices and what affects them

There is nothing hidden: the price is based on:

  • Parking and unloading
  • Waiting and bar staff
  • Guest numbers
  • Starters, canapés and desserts

Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so your choice of paellas affects the total. We’ll suggest options to suit your budget.

What to tell us

You don’t need everything decided to ask for a quote, but these help:

  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff
  • A picture of the cooking space, if it’s a garden or field
  • The venue or postcode

Each quote is tailored to your event. Give us your date and numbers, and we will check availability at the same time.

Newton Valence questions

We’re having a ceremony at Church of St Mary: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Live cooking normally happens at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

Do you come out to small places like Newton Valence?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

Do you clear up afterwards?

Our cooking area is packed away and left clean. Table clearing is available with waiting staff.

What if the weather’s bad?

We cook under cover, such as a gazebo, marquee or open-sided barn with good ventilation. We’ll agree a wet-weather plan with you.

Can the paella be cooked in a hall?

Mostly outside or under an open cover, since the burners are gas. We’ll check whether your venue has a suitable space.

Is paella a full meal?

Paella is a meal in itself. Tapas and desserts can be added if you like.

Should we have more than one paella?

Most events have two or three: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. We’ll help you decide the split.

Do you do desserts?

Yes, Spanish desserts can be added. Let us know if you’d like one in your enquiry.
