Planning an event in Moorstock?

Prices and what affects them

Each event is quoted on its own, and the price depends on a few things:

  • How many courses
  • Whether you need crockery
  • How many staff you need
  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood

Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. The full price is confirmed before you book.

Details that help

You don’t need everything decided to ask for a quote, but it helps to know:

  • The venue or postcode
  • Expected numbers
  • Your date and when you want to eat
  • A picture of where we’d cook

Every quote is put together for your event. Give us your date and numbers, and we will confirm whether we are available that day.

Paella catering in Moorstock, cooked live

Live paella works almost anywhere with a level, ventilated spot: gardens, marquees, barns, courtyards and festival fields. We are often asked to cater weddings and evening receptions and company summer parties, with vegetable paella, paella Valenciana and chicken and chorizo paella.

In a hamlet or village like Moorstock, your own garden or a neighbour’s field can make a wonderful venue. Mention gates and soft ground when you contact us. Tapas, canapés, desserts, sangria and staff can all be added, so the whole menu comes from one caterer.

How it works

The cooking is part of the entertainment. We start with the sofrito, add the stock and saffron, then spread the rice across the pan and leave it alone to cook. Around midsummer it stays light in Moorstock until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:50pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. Contact us with the basics: when, where and how many.
  2. Expect a menu idea and a clear, itemised price.
  3. A week or so before, we confirm the plan.
  4. On the day we cook live, timed around your event.
  5. Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.

What’s in the pans

Paella Valenciana

Paella Valenciana is the original: chicken, beans and saffron, rather than seafood. It’s often the most popular pan at an event.

Black rice

Black rice looks dramatic and tastes of the sea.

Planning live paella in Moorstock

Moorstock is about 4 miles north-west of Hythe, in Kent. For paella catering in Moorstock, we plan around your venue and timings: a clear quote, agreed timings and paella cooked live on the day. We cater in all 922 towns and villages in Kent. We cook right across the region, from Moorstock to Canterbury (about 12 miles away).

School fairs and fundraisers, for a school such as Sellindge Primary School, can book us as a food stall. Nearby historic houses include Westenhanger Castle (1.6 miles south-east). Historic venues often limit cooking, so ask early if you are booking one. Moorstock is within about 6 miles of the Kent Downs National Landscape, and country venues and gardens there suit live paella perfectly. Check your venue’s rules on vehicles and cooking. Moorstock is within about 5 miles of the sea, and seafood paella always feels right near the sea. Coastal wind means we plan a sheltered spot.

We cover events in every part of the TN25 postcode area. For events just outside Moorstock, we cover Sellindge (1 mile south), Stanford (2 miles south-east), Stowting (2 miles north-east), Postling (3 miles east) and Skeete (3 miles north-east). We also cook in nearby towns such as Ashford (6 miles west), Canterbury (12 miles north), Dover (13 miles east), Folkestone (7 miles east), Faversham (15 miles north) and Hythe (4 miles south-east).

Other landmarks nearby include William Harvey Hospital (4.5 miles north-west) and Lympne Castle (2.8 miles south). Not far away are Tolsford Hill and Hatch Park.

Planning for every diet

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. Our advice:

  • Plan seating for most guests: paella is easiest eaten sitting down
  • Send allergies to us in writing
  • Collect dietary needs with your RSVPs
  • Plan a meat, a seafood and a vegetable or vegan pan

A short rest after cooking helps, and that is when we invite guests up.

Bread, salad and lemon go well alongside and suit guests who are not big rice eaters.

Your questions about paella catering in Moorstock

What’s the nearest station to Moorstock for guests?

The closest is Westenhanger station, roughly 1.8 miles away.

Do you cater in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We’ll work to whatever the site needs.

Which areas do you serve?

London and the South East: Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight.

Do you provide plates and cutlery?

Yes, on request. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables can be added to your booking.

Do you come to Moorstock?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, including Moorstock and the rest of Kent. For a quote, fill in our quote form.

How does live paella catering work?

We cook from scratch at your venue in big pans, in front of your guests, and serve straight from the pan.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

A gluten-free pan is no problem. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we can plan it carefully.

Are premium seafood options available?

We will talk through seafood options when we plan your menu.

Should I cook it myself?

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but there’s shopping, prep and hours of cooking. A caterer handles all of that.

A DIY paella party works for small groups. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and keeps vegetarian and allergy-safe pans separate.
