Paella catering for your event in Jordans

Two or three pans side by side cover every guest: meat, seafood and vegetarian or vegan paellas. Each is cooked separately. We are frequently asked to cater staff parties and work lunches and family celebrations and christenings, with seafood paella, black rice and vegetable paella.

Somewhere as small as Jordans, a garden or field is frequently the venue. Country lanes and long drives are no problem if we know about them, and a firm spot near where we park makes set-up easier. Your quote spells out exactly what’s included: the menu, the staff and any extras.

DIY paella versus live catering

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the cooking.

Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but you will still need to source ingredients, prep and cook for hours. A caterer handles all of that.

About the dishes

Seafood paella

Prawns, mussels and squid in a rich fish stock, cooked until the rice is golden. It’s the pan people photograph.

Mixed paella

A mix of chicken and seafood.

The process

The cooking is part of the entertainment. Onion, garlic, peppers and tomato go in first, then the stock and saffron, then the rice, which cooks without stirring. Planning an evening event in Jordans? Sunset is around 8:55pm in late May, 9:25pm at midsummer and 7:05pm in late September; after dark, the cooking and serving areas need good lighting.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get a menu and an itemised quote.
  3. Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. We cook live on the day while guests watch.
  5. We serve from the pan, then pack down.

Preparing for the day

  • Tell us where to park and unload
  • Make sure the spot is clear of anything flammable
  • Arrange a covered spot for wet weather

What paella catering costs

Your quote will be clear and itemised. What affects it most:

  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Whether you need crockery
  • Distance and access to the venue
  • Waiting and bar staff

Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so your choice of paellas affects the total. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

  • A photo of the space, if you can
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • The date and time of the event
  • What the venue already provides

Jordans questions

Can you cook at venues in the Chilterns National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We will follow the site rules.

Is Jordans close to London?

About 23 miles from central London, and we cover it as standard.

Can you bring crockery?

Yes, on request. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables can be added to your booking.

Can you feed a lot of people?

Yes, that’s what it’s made for. We size pans and serving points to your guest list.

Can we choose the seafood?

We’ll talk through seafood options when we plan your menu, including premium options if you want them.

Can you serve tapas as well?

Yes. Canapé tapas with the drinks, or table tapas to share, served while the paella cooks.

Which paellas do you recommend?

That depends on who’s coming. A chicken or mixed paella is usually the most popular, with seafood and vegetable pans alongside.

How do you work out quantities?

We size the pans for your numbers and the rest of the menu. Tell us what else is being served. Our guide to portions explains more.

Diets, allergies and planning

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Try these:

  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Let us know about other food at the event
  • Request clear labels at the serving table
  • Confirm allergies by email

After service, we pack down our cooking area, quietly and quickly.

Bread, salad and lemon go well alongside and suit guests who aren’t big rice eaters.

What we need at the venue

The right spot keeps things safe and helps the paella cook evenly. We need:

  • Agreement from the venue or landowner to cook on site
  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
  • A level, firm spot for the burners and pans

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before you book.

Why choose live paella in Jordans?

Food trucks and street-food vans serve one portion at a time. A big pan serves many guests fast, so everyone can eat at the same time. Larger events normally cost less per head, because the cooking set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we will quote.
