Live paella catering in Hound Green

About our paella catering in Hound Green

You can keep it simple or build a full menu: just paella, or paella with tapas, desserts and drinks. We’ll suggest what suits your event. On the menu are mixed paella, seafood paella and black rice, and we are often booked for weddings and evening receptions and fairs, fêtes and festivals.

Somewhere as small as Hound Green, a garden or field is often the venue. Country lanes and long drives are no problem if we know about them, and a firm spot near where we park makes set-up easier. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in a separate pan and clearly labelled.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it is in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party cooking. With live paella catering, you get the theatre without the work.

How it works

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. In Hound Green, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening events are usually served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get a menu and an itemised quote.
  3. Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day, we set up and cook in front of your guests.
  5. We serve from the pan, then pack down.

Planning for every diet

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. We suggest:

  • Let us know about other food at the event
  • Ask about diets and allergies on your invitation or RSVP
  • Ensure most guests can sit to eat
  • Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice

The rice takes about 20 minutes once it goes in, so we start it at the right moment for your event. If plans change, tell us and we will adjust.

Finish with churros, crema catalana or tarta de Santiago, or serve your own cake.

Hound Green questions

We are having a ceremony at Mattingley Church: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is normally elsewhere. Send us the reception address.

Is Hound Green too small for live paella?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

Where do you cater?

London and the South East: Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Berkshire, Bucks, Oxfordshire and the Isle of Wight.

Can you provide dessert?

We do. Spanish desserts such as churros or crema catalana, or you can serve your own cake.

Do you offer halal options?

Yes, we do. Halal paella is cooked with halal chicken and no pork or alcohol, in its own pan.

Can the paella be cooked in a hall?

Indoors only where ventilation and the venue allow it. Courtyards, doorways and terraces often work.

Can you bring crockery?

Yes, on request. Proper crockery or quality disposables can be added to your booking.

Do you bring everything you need?

Pans, burners and ingredients all come with us. You provide a suitable spot and access.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Barbecues cook in batches, so food comes off in waves. Paella is cooked as one big dish and served together. The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, plus any staff, crockery and travel. Every event gets its own quote.

How we price paella catering

We will give you a clear, itemised quote. What affects it most:

  • Plates, cutlery and glassware
  • Parking and unloading
  • The number of people
  • How many staff you need

Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so the menu you choose affects the price. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

Details that help

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what’s useful:

  • Which courses you have in mind
  • Anything your venue supplies
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • The venue or postcode
