Paella catering in Horton

Paella catering in Horton, cooked live

One cooking area feeds plenty of people, very little goes to waste, and the food is served hot. That’s why it works for so many events. We’re frequently asked to cater weddings, from canapés to evening food and naming days and family parties, serving seafood paella, paella Valenciana and black rice.

For a rural spot like Horton, the countryside is part of the appeal: a paella cooking in a garden or field feels right at home. Tell us about access and the ground. Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included, each in a separate pan.

Dietary needs and planning tips

With a little notice, every diet is easy. Our advice:

  • Send allergies to us in writing
  • Plan a meat, a seafood and a vegetable or vegan pan
  • Flag any coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations

Paella is at its best straight from the pan, so we plan service for when guests are ready to eat.

We can add sangria and bar staff for your own drinks.

Should I cook it myself?

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, keep the stock hot, and leave the rice alone once it is in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

Plenty of people try cooking paella for their own party. The usual problems are a pan too big for the burner, too much rice and stirring once the rice is in. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the cooking.

How we price paella catering

The same guest numbers can mean different prices, because of:

  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • Travel, parking and access
  • How many staff you need
  • The number of people

If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we’ll put together a menu that fits. Even a simple menu can be a feast.

Getting an accurate quote

To check availability and price, we need:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • What the venue already provides
  • Which courses you have in mind

Getting a quote is simple: share your date, venue, numbers and diets. We’ll send a clear, itemised quote and a suggested menu.

Planning the cooking area

Most outdoor spaces and many venues work for live paella, but there are a few things to check:

  • Open air or a well-ventilated covered spot
  • Clearance from fences, hedges, branches and anything flammable
  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly.

What we offer

  • Mixed paella
  • Paella Valenciana
  • Vegetable paella
  • Seafood paella
  • Chicken & chorizo paella
  • Vegan paella
  • Black rice (arroz negro)

Common questions in Horton

Could we have live paella in Horton Country Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council. Ask them first, and we’ll send any information they need.

We’re having a ceremony at Church of St Mary the Virgin: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a garden, marquee or venue nearby with a suitable spot to cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is typically elsewhere. Tell us where the reception will be.

Does paella work for big events?

Very much so. We size pans and serving points to your guest list.

What does paella catering cost?

Every event is quoted individually, based on what you actually want. Give us your date, numbers and menu ideas for a clear quote.

Is the paella gluten-free?

A gluten-free pan is no problem. Tell us about any coeliac guests when you book so we can plan it carefully.

Can you do sangria?

Yes, sangria. We can also supply bar staff for your own drinks.

Which paellas suit our guests?

That depends on who’s coming. A chicken or mixed paella is typically the most popular, with seafood and vegetable pans alongside.

How do you work out quantities?

Pans are sized to your numbers and other courses. Let us know about any other food. Our guide to portions explains more.

The process

Serving is fast: the paella goes straight from the pan to the plate, so large groups are fed quickly. Afterwards we clear our cooking area away. Planning an evening event in Horton? Sunset is around 8:50pm in late May, 9:20pm at midsummer and 7:05pm in late September; after dark, the cooking and serving areas need good lighting.

  1. We start with a few details about your event.
  2. You get a menu and an itemised quote.
  3. We agree timings, access and the cooking spot.
  4. We cook live on the day while guests watch.
  5. It is served straight from the pan, and we clear our area afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
  • Get the venue’s permission for cooking
  • Give us your final numbers and diets

Getting a price

The more you tell us, the more accurate the quote: the venue, the timings, the courses you’d like and any extras. To send your details, fill in our quote form.

Dishes our guests love

Paella Valenciana

Valencians take their paella seriously. The traditional pan has chicken, flat green beans and butter beans.

Black rice

Arroz negro is coloured and flavoured with squid ink, and is typically served with alioli. It is a striking addition to a seafood menu.
