About our paella catering in Halton

The cooking is half the fun. Guests gather round as the sofrito sizzles and the saffron colours the rice, and the smell does the rest. For festivals, fairs and school events and naming days and family parties, we’ll put together a menu of chicken and chorizo paella, paella Valenciana and vegan paella and more.

Somewhere like Halton, a field or garden is frequently the perfect setting. Mention gates and soft ground when you contact us. Your quote spells out exactly what’s included: menu, staff, crockery and anything else you choose, with no surprises on the day.

The process

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so we time everything to your schedule. Around midsummer it stays light in Halton until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. You share your date, numbers and venue.
  2. We plan a menu that covers every diet.
  3. We arrive in good time to set up.
  4. The paella cooks as guests gather round.
  5. Service is straight from the pan, then we pack down.

Prices and what affects them

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • Travel, parking and access
  • The paellas you choose
  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
  • Guest numbers

If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we’ll put together a menu that fits. A simple menu can still feel generous.

Details that help

You do not need everything decided to ask for a quote, but these help:

  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • Where the event is
  • Anything your venue supplies
  • Your date and when you want to eat

Every event is quoted individually, so you only pay for what you need. For a quote, fill in our quote form.

Before you choose a spot

We’ll be honest if a space will not work, and help find another spot. What matters most:

  • Level ground for the pans and burners
  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
  • Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly.

Can I cook paella for a crowd myself?

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. A big pan needs a burner that heats it evenly, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Read how to cook paella for a crowd.

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it is in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

What’s in the pans

Mixed paella

Chicken and seafood together, and a popular all-rounder.

Seafood paella

Prawns, mussels and squid in a rich fish stock, finished with lemon wedges. It’s generally the most photographed pan.

Diets, allergies and planning

We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests. To make it work smoothly:

  • Have seats for most of your guests
  • Mention any other courses or food
  • Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically

Let the paella rest for a few minutes before serving, which is when we typically call guests over.

Tapas or canapés make a good start while the paella cooks.

Paella compared with other options

If you want something different from the usual buffet or roast, live paella brings colour, aroma and a touch of Spain to your event in Halton. Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the courses, along with staff, extras and travel. Every event gets its own quote.

Halton: your questions answered

Is Halton too small for live paella?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

Do you cater in the Chilterns National Landscape?

Yes. Some venues there have rules about vehicles, ground and cooking, so check with yours. We’ll work to whatever the site needs.

Should we have more than one paella?

Two or three covers most guests. Tell us about your guests’ diets and we will suggest the mix.

Do you cater for young children?

Children are welcome. Let us know numbers and ages, and we’ll plan for them.

How much space do you need?

A level space for the pans, burners and a serving table, outdoors or in a marquee or well-ventilated area, plus the venue’s agreement to cooking.

Are premium seafood options available?

We will suggest seafood to suit your menu and budget. Premium shellfish can be added.

When should we book?

As soon as you have a date. Peak dates go quickly, so get in touch early.

Will there be enough food?

Pans are sized to your numbers and other courses. Tell us what else is being served. See how much paella per person.
