Paella catering in Flansham, cooked live

Paella was made for feeding a crowd: cooked outdoors in a wide, shallow pan and shared. That’s exactly what we bring to your event in Flansham. On the menu are seafood paella, chicken and chorizo paella and black rice, and we’re frequently booked for summer garden parties and weddings, from canapés to evening food.

In a rural place like Flansham, the setting does plenty of the work: a paella cooking in a garden or field feels right at home. Let us know about access and ground conditions. Tapas, canapés, desserts, sangria and staff can all be added, so the whole menu comes from one caterer.

For planners, venues and organisers

Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we will explain how it works. We’re happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.

For larger events, we plan the number of pans and serving points around your timings, so everyone eats promptly. Let us know how long the food break is.

Live paella in Flansham: local details

Flansham is about 2 miles north-east of Bognor Regis, in West Sussex. We cook at events in gardens, halls and venues around Flansham. Flansham is one of 371 places in West Sussex where we cook. You can also see our page for Brighton, about 22 miles away.

School fairs and fundraisers, for a school such as Bishop Tufnell CofE Primary School, can book us as a food stall. Thinking of a picnic-style party in The Brooks Local Nature Reserve? Public parks usually need permission from the council or landowner for cooking, so check first. Flansham is within about 3 miles of the sea, and seafood paella always feels right near the sea. Sea breezes can be strong, so we plan a sheltered cooking spot.

Anywhere in PO22, we can bring paella catering to you, from busy streets to quiet lanes. If your venue is just outside Flansham, we also cover Bilsham (1 mile east), Lidsey (2 miles north-west), Shripney (2 miles west), Yapton (2 miles north-east) and Barnham (2 miles north). We also cook in nearby towns such as Worthing (11 miles east), Chichester (7 miles west), Selsey (8 miles south-west), Littlehampton (5 miles east), Lancing (14 miles east) and Emsworth (13 miles west).

A little further out are Tote Copse Castle (3.1 miles north-west) and Bognor Regis Museum (2.3 miles south-west).

Why choose live paella in Flansham?

Compared with a hog roast or barbecue, live paella is easier for vegetarian, vegan and halal guests, thanks to separate pans. It’s served quickly from the pan, so queues move. Seafood and premium ingredients cost more than chicken or vegetable paellas, so the menu you choose affects the price. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

Why us?

  • Options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in its own pan
  • No hidden extras in your quote
  • Served hot, straight from the pan
  • Catering across West Sussex, including Flansham

Paella Valenciana

In Valencia, the recipe is fiercely debated. The classic version is chicken, green beans and butter beans with saffron, and it’s a crowd-pleaser.

Black rice

Black rice looks dramatic and tastes of the sea.

Space, weather and the venue

Live paella is cooked over gas burners in large pans, so the cooking area needs a little planning. Here’s what we look for:

  • Confirmation that open cooking is allowed
  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
  • Parking close enough to carry equipment

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we offer

  • Chicken & chorizo paella
  • Paella Valenciana
  • Seafood paella
  • Black rice (arroz negro)
  • Vegan paella
  • Vegetable paella
  • Mixed paella

The process

We cook over gas burners in wide, shallow pans. It needs a level spot with some shelter and good ventilation, and we agree where that is before the day. Around midsummer it stays light in Flansham until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening events are normally served in daylight. For winter events, when it’s dark by about 4:00pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. You tell us the date, venue, guest numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. We suggest a menu and confirm a quote, including what’s included.
  3. On the day we arrive in good time, set up and start the stock.
  4. Your guests watch the paella cook, with any tapas served first.
  5. We serve it hot from the pan and clear our area when service ends.

How to prepare

  • Have a level space ready for the pans
  • Keep the cooking spot clear of fences, hedges and branches
  • Share the running order, including any speeches

What affects the price in Flansham

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, depending on:

  • Whether you need crockery
  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Travel, parking and access
  • Your choice of paellas

Got a budget? Let us know, and we’ll suggest a menu to match. A simple menu can still feel generous.

Getting an accurate quote

You do not need every detail fixed to get a quote, but these help:

  • The venue or postcode
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • The date and rough timings
  • A picture of the space, if you can

A detailed enquiry gets a more accurate quote: venue, timings, courses and extras. When you are ready, use our quote form.

Questions from Flansham

Could we have live paella in The Brooks Local Nature Reserve?

Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.

How far is Flansham from London?

Roughly 54 miles from the centre of London, and we cover it as standard.

What about pudding?

We can add a dessert. Tell us what you have in mind when you ask for a quote.

Can you cook halal paella?

Yes. We use halal chicken and leave out pork and alcohol, in a separate pan.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We pack down our cooking area after service. Clearing guests’ plates and tables can be added with waiting staff.

What is live paella catering?

We bring everything needed to cook on site, cook while everyone watches, and serve when you are ready to eat.

Is the paella gluten-free?

A gluten-free pan is no problem. Tell us about any coeliac guests when you book so we take the right care.

Is paella a full meal?

It’s a full meal on its own. Many hosts add tapas first or dessert after.

Should I cook it myself?

Cooking paella for a crowd yourself is possible, but it is harder than it looks. Large pans need the right burners, and getting the rice right for dozens of people takes experience. Our guide to cooking paella for a crowd explains how.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

Catering for every guest

Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Here’s how:

  • Add a dietary question to your invitations
  • Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice
  • Flag any coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Plan seating for most guests: paella is easiest eaten sitting down

If you’ve booked staff, they’ll serve, clear and help keep things moving, so you can enjoy your guests.

Tapas or canapés make a good start while the paella cooks.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
