Paella catering for your event in Fittleworth
The cooking is half the fun. Guests gather round as the sofrito sizzles and the saffron colours the rice, and the smell does the rest. Whether it’s christenings and family gatherings and engagement and anniversary parties, we can cook chicken and chorizo paella, paella Valenciana and mixed paella.
For a rural spot like Fittleworth, the countryside is part of the appeal: a paella cooking in a garden or field feels right at home. Let us know about access and ground conditions. Tapas, canapés, desserts, sangria and staff can all be added, so the whole menu comes from one caterer.

Should I cook it myself?
A DIY paella party works for small groups. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles separate pans for each diet.
If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, have hot stock ready, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.
Prices and what affects them
The price comes down to a few factors:
- Plates, cutlery and glassware
- The number of people
- How long we’re needed on site
- Starters, canapés and desserts
Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. The full price is confirmed before you book.
What to tell us
The more we know about your event, the better we can plan. Please include:
- A photo of the space, if you can
- Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal and allergy numbers
- The date and time of the event
- What the venue already provides
We quote for each event separately, so you only pay for what you need. For a quote, send us your details through our quote form.
Is live paella right for your event?
A plated meal needs a kitchen, more staff and typically costs more per head. Live paella needs a level, ventilated spot and the venue’s permission to cook, and it’s entertaining too. Premium seafood costs more than chicken or vegetables, so the menu you choose affects the price. We’ll suggest options to suit your budget.
What you get with us
- Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks
- Tapas, canapés and desserts if you want them
- Separate pans for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests
- A clear, itemised quote

Which station should guests use for Fittleworth?
The closest is Pulborough station, roughly 1.9 miles away.
What happens with live paella?
We set up a cooking area at your venue, cook the paella from scratch in large pans while your guests watch, and serve it straight from the pan.
Do you take everything away?
We pack down our cooking area after service. Waiting staff can clear tables if you book them.
Can you do gluten-free paella?
We can, if you tell us in advance. The rice is gluten-free, but stocks and chorizo can contain gluten, so we make a separate gluten-free pan.

How much paella per person?
Pans are sized to your numbers and other courses. Let us know about any other food. Our guide to portions explains more.
Organising for someone else?
Hosting a party at home? Send a picture of the space and tell us about parking, and we will let you know if live paella is a good fit.
If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We’ll provide any information the landowner or council asks for.

The process
We cook over gas burners in wide, shallow pans. It needs a level spot with some shelter and good ventilation, which we agree with you beforehand. Around midsummer it stays light in Fittleworth until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening events are usually served in daylight. In December it is dark by about 4:00pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.
- Start with the date, the place and the numbers.
- We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
- Closer to the day, we confirm timings and the cooking spot.
- On the day we cook live, timed around your event.
- Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.
Getting ready for the day
- Confirm numbers and diets before the day
- Get the venue’s permission for cooking
- Choose a level spot for the cooking area

What’s in the pans
Paella Valenciana
Paella Valenciana is the original: chicken, beans and saffron, not seafood. It’s frequently the most popular pan at an event.
Seafood paella
Seafood paella starts with a good fish and shellfish stock. Shellfish goes in towards the end so it stays tender.
