About our paella catering in Finchley

There is something generous about paella: giant pans, saffron colour and a toasted crust that everyone fights over. It makes the food an event in itself. Whether it’s family celebrations and christenings and big birthdays, we can cook vegan paella, black rice and vegetable paella.

Gardens in London can be narrow, but a level spot away from fences and trees is usually all we need. In Finchley, the bigger question is parking near the house or venue. You will know exactly what’s included before you book: the menu, the staff and any extras, with no surprises on the day.

Paella catering around Finchley

Finchley is about 6 miles north of City of Westminster, in Greater London. From the centre of Finchley to the outskirts, paella catering works the same way: paella cooked live, every diet catered for and a clear quote. We cater in all 764 towns and villages across Greater London, from the larger towns to small villages. We cook right across the region, from Finchley to London (8 miles away).

School fairs and fundraisers, for a school such as Manorside Primary School, can book us as a food stall. Historic houses near Finchley include Heath Hall (1.8 miles south) and Kenwood House (2.1 miles south). Historic venues frequently limit cooking, so ask early if you’re booking one.

Paella catering in N3, N2, N12 and NW11 is planned around your venue and your guests. Local streets include Station Road, Chaplin Square and Market Place; an event at home on any of them works well with live paella. You will find Finchley on the B1462, which makes it straightforward to bring the equipment. If your venue is just outside Finchley, we also cover Church End (1 mile west), Woodside Park (1 mile north), North Finchley (1 mile north), Friern Barnet (2 miles north-east) and Oakleigh Park (2 miles north). We also cook in nearby towns such as London (8 miles south-east), City of Westminster (6 miles south), Marylebone (6 miles south), Kensington (7 miles south), St Pancras (6 miles south-east) and Shoreditch (7 miles south-east).

How we price paella catering

These are the factors that matter most:

  • The length of service
  • Waiting and bar staff
  • Extra courses such as canapés, tapas and dessert
  • How many guests are eating

Live paella often compares well with a sit-down meal, because it needs no kitchen and fewer staff. Ask us for a quote.

Details that help

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what to include:

  • A picture of where we’d cook
  • The date and rough timings
  • Where the event is
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children

We need only a few details to quote: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. To send them, send us your details through our quote form.

About the dishes

Vegetable and vegan paella

The vegetable pan is a dish in its own right: peppers, artichokes and beans with saffron.

Black rice

Squid ink rice is bold and savoury.

Catering for every guest

Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included. To make it work smoothly:

  • Make sure each pan is labelled
  • Have seats for most of your guests
  • Choose two or three paellas so every guest has a choice
  • Mention any other courses or food

A short rest after cooking helps, which is when we normally call guests over.

Bread, salad and lemon wedges make the meal go further.

Your questions about paella catering in Finchley

Could we have live paella in Victoria Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, typically the council. Check with them, and we’ll provide our paperwork.

What about parking in Finchley?

London parking needs planning: let us know about permits or off-street space. We will plan unloading around it.

Is live paella good for a large crowd?

It’s ideal. Large pans and fast service from the pan make it well suited to crowds.

What happens with live paella?

We set up a cooking area at your venue, cook the paella from scratch in large pans while your guests watch, and serve it straight from the pan.

Who clears up?

We clear our cooking area away when service is finished. Waiting staff can clear tables if you book them.

Which paella is most popular?

That depends on who’s coming. A chicken or mixed paella is normally the most popular, alongside seafood and vegetable or vegan pans.

How much is live paella catering?

The price depends on numbers, menu, courses, staff and travel. Tell us about your event and we will send a quote.

When should we book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Even if it is short notice, it’s worth asking.

Planning the cooking area

Every venue is different, so we ask about the space before we confirm. In general, we need:

  • Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
  • Parking close enough to carry equipment
  • Confirmation that open cooking is allowed

As a London location, Finchley is inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking takes planning: let us know about permits, bays or off-street parking.

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and we’ll say what we think before you book.

The process

When we arrive, we set up the burners and pans and start cooking the sofrito and stock. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. Planning an evening event in Finchley? Sunset is around 8:55pm in late May, 9:20pm at midsummer and 7:05pm in late September; once it is dark, we need light to cook and serve by.

  1. It starts with your date, venue, numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. You get a suggested menu and an itemised quote.
  3. We arrive early, set up the cooking area and start the stock.
  4. Your guests watch the paella cook, with any tapas served first.
  5. It is served straight from the pan, and we pack down afterwards.

How to prepare

  • Choose a level spot for the cooking area
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
  • Give us your final numbers and diets

DIY paella versus live catering

For a small group, cooking yourself can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles separate pans for each diet.

Weighing up DIY against a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. We are happy to give you a quote to compare.

Who books paella catering in Finchley?

Paella is one of the few dishes that handles mixed diets easily, thanks to separate pans for each version. Nobody gets a token ‘special meal’.

Here are some of the events we cook for:

  • Retirement celebrations
  • Garden get-togethers
  • Engagement and anniversary parties
  • Wedding breakfasts and evening food

Thinking of a picnic-style party in Victoria Park? Public parks generally need permission from the council or landowner for cooking, so check first.

What your quote should include

  • What the price includes, item by item
  • The deposit and payment dates
  • The venue requirements
  • How dietary needs and allergies are handled

Organising for someone else?

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep you updated on timings and set-up.

For larger events, we plan the number of pans and serving points around your timings, so guests are fed quickly. Let us know how long the food break is.
