Paella catering in Farleigh Wallop

How our paella catering works in Farleigh Wallop

Two or three pans side by side cover every guest: a meat or mixed paella, a seafood paella and a vegetable or vegan one. Each is cooked separately, so diets are easy to manage. For retirement celebrations and weddings, from canapés to evening food, we can cook vegan paella, black rice and vegetable paella and more.

In a hamlet or village like Farleigh Wallop, your own garden or a neighbour’s field can make a wonderful venue. Gates, verges and soft ground are worth mentioning when you enquire. We bring everything we need to cook, and pack down our cooking area when service is finished.

Paella compared with other options

Food trucks and street-food vans serve one portion at a time. A big pan serves many guests fast, so everyone can eat at the same time. Live paella pricing depends on the event. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. Your quote spells it all out.

Why Farleigh Wallop hosts choose us

  • A quote that spells everything out
  • Live cooking, not reheated food
  • Crockery and waiting staff if you need them
  • Separate pans for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests

Step by step

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. The rice goes in about 20 minutes before serving, so the timing is planned around your event. In Farleigh Wallop, the sun sets at about 9:25pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening events are typically served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 4:00pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. Start with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. Expect a menu idea and a clear, itemised price.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm timings and the cooking spot.
  4. On the day we cook live, timed around your event.
  5. Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.

Before we arrive

  • Arrange parking near the cooking spot
  • Give us a contact for the day
  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to cook

About the dishes

Black rice

Black rice looks dramatic and tastes of the sea, and is popular with adventurous guests.

Vegetable and vegan paella

A vegetable paella isn’t an afterthought: artichokes, beans, peppers and saffron.

Prices and what affects them

The same guest numbers can mean different prices, depending on:

  • Chicken, vegetable or premium seafood
  • How many staff you need
  • Starters, canapés and desserts
  • Plates, cutlery and glassware

The price depends on your guest numbers, the menu and how many courses you choose, plus any staff, crockery and travel. We quote for each event individually.

Getting an accurate quote

The more we know about your event, the better we can plan. Try to include:

  • Whether the venue has crockery or staff
  • Whether you want canapés, tapas or desserts
  • The date and rough timings
  • The address or venue name

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many guests, plus any dietary needs, and you’ll get a menu idea and a price. To get started, send us your details through our quote form.

Planning the cooking area

We cook in large pans over gas burners, so the cooking area needs a little planning. These are the things we check:

  • Space well away from trees, fences and gazebo walls
  • The venue’s permission for live cooking
  • Outdoor space or a ventilated gazebo

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Menu ideas

  • Mixed paella
  • Black rice (arroz negro)
  • Chicken & chorizo paella
  • Seafood paella
  • Paella Valenciana
  • Vegetable paella

Farleigh Wallop questions

We are having a ceremony at Church of St. Andrew: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is normally elsewhere. Send us the reception address.

Is Farleigh Wallop too small for live paella?

Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking.

Do you do starters?

Yes, it’s the classic pairing. Tapas go out first, then the paella.

How long do you need on site?

It depends on the menu and numbers. We will agree arrival, cooking and serving times with you so the paella is ready when you want it.

Do you cater in Farleigh Wallop?

Yes, we do. We cook at events in Farleigh Wallop and across Hampshire. Tell us your date and we will check availability.

Can we choose the seafood?

We’ll talk through seafood options when we plan your menu.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Yes, and meat eaters often go back for seconds. They have their own pans, stock and spoons.

What do you need at the venue?

Level ground for the burners, pans and a table, in the open air or a ventilated covered area, and the venue’s permission for live cooking.

For planners, venues and organisers

Throwing a party at home? Send us a picture of the garden and tell us about access, and we’ll let you know if live paella is a good fit.

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can hold the date.

Diets, allergies and planning

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. Our advice:

  • Put allergy details in writing
  • Count adults and children separately
  • Plan a meat, a seafood and a vegetable or vegan pan
  • Have seats for most of your guests

Once the rice is in, it needs about 20 minutes, so we start it at the right moment for your event. If plans change, tell us and we will adjust.

Crockery, cutlery and waiting staff are available if your venue does not provide them.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
