We cook every paella from scratch on the day, starting with a slow sofrito of onion, garlic, peppers and tomato, followed by stock, saffron and rice. Live paella or other catering?

Barbecues cook in batches, so food comes off in waves. Paella is cooked as one big dish and served together. When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: staff, crockery, bread and salads, travel and VAT. We itemise ours.

Why book with us

  • Tapas, canapés and desserts if you want them
  • Plates, cutlery and waiting staff available
  • Hot food served quickly from the pan
  • Sangria, plus bar staff for your own drinks

Take a look at How we price And Our guide to catering costs.

Step by step

The cooking is part of the entertainment. Onion, garlic, peppers and tomato go in first, then the stock and saffron, then the rice, which cooks without stirring. Around midsummer it stays light in Cox Green until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. First, tell us about your event.
  2. You get a menu and an itemised quote.
  3. Timings, access and the cooking area are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day, we set up and cook in front of your guests.
  5. We serve from the pan, then pack down.

How we price paella catering

Live paella pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you can choose exactly what you need.

Organising for someone else?

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We can send whatever the landowner or council needs from us.

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can hold the date.

Catering for every guest

Nearly every event has some special diets. To plan for them:

  • Ensure each pan is labelled
  • Make sure most guests can sit to eat
  • Collect dietary needs with your RSVPs
  • Tell us about coeliac guests specifically

Paella is best eaten as soon as it is ready, so we serve when guests are ready.

Spanish desserts such as churros or crema catalana finish the meal, or serve your own cake.

About the dishes

Black rice

Black rice gets its colour from squid ink, traditionally with alioli. It is a striking addition to a seafood menu.

Paella Valenciana

Valencians take their paella seriously. The classic version is chicken, green beans and butter beans with saffron.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
