Paella catering for your event in Burghclere Common

Watching it cook is part of the experience. People drift over as the sofrito sizzles and the rice turns gold, and the smell does the rest. For company summer parties and festivals, fairs and school events, we will put together a menu of black rice, mixed paella and vegan paella and more.

Somewhere as small as Burghclere Common, a garden or field is often the venue. Country lanes and long drives are no problem if we know about them, and cooking close to where we can park helps. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal guests, each in a separate pan.

What’s in the pans

Black rice

Arroz negro is coloured and flavoured with squid ink, traditionally with alioli. It’s a striking addition to a seafood menu.

Mixed paella

Mixed paella brings meat and seafood together, and it is frequently the first pan to empty.

Should I cook it myself?

If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, keep the stock hot, and leave the rice alone once it’s in. Keep a clear zone around the burner.

Not sure whether to cook yourself or book a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. We’re happy to give you a quote to compare.

Why choose live paella in Burghclere Common?

Next to a hog roast or barbecue, live paella is easier for vegetarian, vegan and halal guests, because each paella has its own pan. It’s served quickly from the pan, so queues move. Tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are optional extras, so you only pay for what you want.

Your questions about paella catering in Burghclere Common

How far is Burghclere Common from London?

About 54 miles from central London.

What’s the nearest station to Burghclere Common for guests?

Newbury station, about 2.7 miles north of the centre.

How long do you need on site?

It depends on the menu and numbers. We will agree arrival, cooking and serving times with you so the paella is ready when you want it.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

We can cook a gluten-free paella in its own pan. Let us know about coeliac guests in advance so we take the right care.

Do you clear up afterwards?

Our cooking area is packed away and left clean. Ask us about table clearing if you need it.

Should we have more than one paella?

Two or three covers most guests. We will recommend a mix based on diets.

Do you provide plates and cutlery?

We can. Let us know what you have, and we’ll quote for the rest.

Do you have a kids’ option?

Of course. A simple chicken paella is typically popular with children. Tell us how many are coming.

The process

It is a relaxed, well-organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, set up our cooking area, and get on with cooking and serving. Around midsummer it stays light in Burghclere Common until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so summer evening events are generally served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 4:00pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. Get in touch with the basics: when, where and how many.
  2. Expect a menu idea and a clear, itemised price.
  3. Closer to the day, we confirm timings and the cooking spot.
  4. We set up, cook from scratch and keep an eye on your timings.
  5. Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.
