Live paella catering in Brixton

Paella catering for your event in Brixton

The cooking is half the fun. People drift over as the sofrito sizzles and the rice turns gold, and the aroma does the rest. On the menu are vegetable paella, paella Valenciana and black rice, and we’re regularly asked to cater festivals, fairs and school events and leaving dos and retirements.

London gardens are frequently long and narrow, but a level spot away from fences and trees is normally all we need. In Brixton, the bigger question is parking near the house or venue. Every pan is cooked in front of your guests, so the food is hot, fresh and part of the occasion.

Dishes our guests love

Vegetable and vegan paella

A slow sofrito, seasonal vegetables and a good vegetable stock make a proper main dish. For vegans, the stock is plant-based.

Seafood paella

A rich seafood stock with prawns, mussels and squid, cooked until the rice is golden. It’s the pan people photograph.

Catering an event in Brixton

Brixton is about 1 mile south of Stockwell, in Greater London. Events in Brixton are planned around your venue and timings: a clear quote, agreed timings and paella cooked live on the day. We cook in 764 places across Greater London, from the larger towns to small villages.

If you’re celebrating after a service at a church like Trinity Congregational Church, live paella at a garden or venue nearby works well. For guests coming by train, Brixton station is in Brixton itself.

We cook at events all over SW2, SW9 and SW4. Local streets include Acre Lane, Jelf Road and Trent Road; an event at home on any of them works well with live paella. Questions from Brixton

Can you cater a reception after a service at Trinity Congregational Church?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall where we can cook. Churches rarely have space for live cooking, so the meal is generally elsewhere. Send us the reception address.

Could we have live paella in Max Roach Park?

Only with permission from the park’s owner, usually the council. Check with them, and we will provide our paperwork.

Do you provide drinks?

Sangria, yes. For other drinks, we can provide bar staff to serve what you buy.

What happens with live paella?

We arrive with pans, burners and ingredients, cook in front of your guests, and serve at the time you want.

How far ahead should we book?

As soon as you have a date. Peak dates go quickly, so get in touch early.

Can we add tapas or canapés?

Yes. Canapés with drinks or tapas for the tables, served while the paella cooks.

What space do you need to cook?

A level space for the pans, burners and a serving table, in the open air or a ventilated covered area, plus the venue’s agreement to cooking.

Can you cater for children?

Yes. A simple chicken paella is typically popular with children. Tell us how many are coming.

Planners, venues and businesses

Hosting a party at home? Send us a photo of the garden and tell us about access, and we will let you know if live paella is a good fit.

For larger events, we plan the number of pans and serving points around your timings, so everyone eats promptly. Let us know how long the food break is.

Before you choose a spot

We will agree the cooking spot with you before the day. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:

  • Open air or a well-ventilated covered spot
  • Level ground for the pans and burners
  • The venue’s permission for live cooking

Brixton is in London, within the Ultra Low Emission Zone, and parking can be tight: tell us about parking bays, permits or a driveway.

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Paella compared with other options

A cold buffet is simple but has no theatre, and the food sits out. Paella is cooked live and served hot. There is no one-size-fits-all price for live paella. A simple paella lunch costs less than a wedding with canapés, three paellas and waiting staff. We itemise everything in your quote.

Why us?

  • Hot food served quickly from the pan
  • Drinks service on request
  • Everything cooked fresh at your event
  • We cover Brixton and the whole of Greater London

Occasions we cook for in Brixton

People book live paella because it’s food and entertainment at once. The pans become a focal point, and the food is hot and generous.

These are some of the occasions we cater:

  • Wedding breakfasts and evening food
  • Garden parties and summer barbecues
  • Staff parties and work lunches
  • Retirement celebrations

Nearby historic houses include Kingswood House (2.4 miles south-east) and Carlyle's House (2.9 miles north-west). If your event is at a historic house or estate, check its rules on caterers and cooking early.

What your quote should include

  • What happens if it rains
  • The deposit and payment dates
  • A clear list of what’s included
  • What the caterer needs from your venue

Choosing a paella caterer

Should I cook it myself?

Cooking it yourself? Test your pan and burner first, keep the stock hot, and do not stir once the rice goes in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up stuck at the stove. Booking us means you get the show without the stress.

The process

Here’s how the day normally runs: we set up the pans and start the sofrito, the rice cooks in front of your guests, and it is served hot from the pan at the agreed time. In Brixton, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, we need lighting at the cooking spot.

  1. Start with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
  3. A week or so before, we confirm the plan.
  4. On the day we cook live, timed around your event.
  5. We serve, then leave our area tidy.

Getting ready for the day

  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to cook
  • Have a gazebo or cover ready if rain is likely
  • Make sure we can park close by to unload

How we price paella catering

Each event is quoted on its own, based on a few main things:

  • Crockery and cutlery, or disposables
  • How many staff you need
  • How many courses
  • The number of people

Extras such as tapas, desserts, sangria, staff and crockery are priced separately, so you can choose exactly what you need.

What to tell us

To speed things up, tell us:

  • What the venue already provides
  • The date and rough timings
  • A picture of the space, if you can
  • Any dietary needs and allergies

Most quotes start with a few simple details: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. You can send us your details through our quote form.

  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
