Live paella catering in Breach
Your questions about paella catering in Breach
Can you cook in Berengrave Chalk Pit?
Only with permission from the park’s owner, generally the council. Ask them first, and we’ll send any information they need.
Is Breach too small for live paella?
Not at all. We cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Tell us about lanes, gates and parking.
Do you have a kids’ option?
Children are welcome. Tell us how many and roughly how old, and we’ll plan for them.
How far ahead should we book?
As soon as you have a date. Popular dates book up first, so contact us early.
Do you cook it at the event?
Yes, always. We cook from scratch in large pans at your venue, in front of your guests.
Do you provide plates and cutlery?
Yes, on request. Crockery, cutlery and napkins, or good-quality disposables can be added to your booking.
Can the paella be cooked in a hall?
Only in a suitable, well-ventilated area with the venue’s permission. Most events have us cooking outside or in a doorway or courtyard.
What seafood can we have?
Seafood choices are agreed when we plan the menu, including premium options if you want them.

Space, weather and the venue
The right spot keeps things safe and helps the paella cook evenly. We need:
- Good ventilation: outdoors, or an open-sided cover
- Flat, firm ground for the cooking area
- Clearance from fences, hedges, branches and anything flammable
If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and we will advise before booking.

A closer look at the menu
Vegetable and vegan paella
A slow sofrito, seasonal vegetables and a good vegetable stock make a paella that stands on its own. Vegan versions use plant-based stock.
Black rice
Black rice gets its colour from squid ink, and is typically served with alioli. It is a striking addition to a seafood menu.
Paella compared with other options
If you want something different from the usual buffet or roast, live paella brings colour, aroma and a touch of Spain. The cost per head generally falls as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we will quote.
Why Breach hosts choose us
- Sangria and bar staff available
- Cooking your guests will gather round to watch

Should I cook it myself?
If you do cook yourself, test the pan and burner together beforehand, keep the stock hot, and leave the rice alone once it is in. And keep children and pets well away from the burner.
Hiring a pan and burner is one option, but there is shopping, prep and hours of cooking. A caterer handles all of that.
Diets, allergies and planning
Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal included. To make it work smoothly:
- Make sure most guests can sit to eat
- Flag any coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
- Let us know about other food at the event
- Pick a mix of paellas to cover every diet
Paella is at its best straight from the pan, so we plan service for when guests are ready to eat.
Spanish desserts such as churros or crema catalana finish the meal.
Working with your venue
For larger events, we plan the number of pans and serving points around your timings, so guests are fed quickly. Let us know how long the food break is.
Booking for a company? Tell us what your finance team needs, and we’ll talk you through the process. We’re happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.
