How our paella catering works in Bapchild

Almost any venue with a level, ventilated spot will do: a garden, marquee, barn, courtyard or field in and around Bapchild. Whether it’s engagement and anniversary parties and summer garden parties, we’ll put together a menu of chicken and chorizo paella, seafood paella and paella Valenciana.

For a rural spot like Bapchild, the countryside is part of the appeal: a giant pan in a garden or field fits perfectly. Tell us about access and the ground. We serve straight from the pan, so every plate is hot, and service is quick once it’s ready.

Events we cater in Bapchild

Few dishes cope with mixed diets like paella, thanks to separate pans for each version. Everyone gets the same kind of meal.

Live paella suits almost any gathering. People in Bapchild book us for occasions like:

  • Milestone birthday parties
  • Engagement and anniversary parties
  • Summer garden parties
  • Festivals, fairs and school events

If you’re celebrating after a service at a church like Church of St Nicholas, live paella at a garden or venue nearby works well.

For big numbers, we plan pans and serving points to keep queues short, so guests are fed quickly. Tell us how long you have for food.

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Bapchild questions

Could we have live paella in Cromers Wood?

Only if the landowner, usually the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we will send any information they need.

Is Bapchild close to London?

About 39 miles from central London, and well within our area.

Which paellas do you recommend?

It depends on your guests. A chicken or mixed paella is normally the most popular, alongside seafood and vegetable or vegan pans.

Can you cook indoors?

Normally we cook outdoors or under a ventilated cover, since the burners are gas. We’ll check whether your venue has a suitable space.

Do you provide drinks?

Sangria can be added, and provide bar staff to serve drinks you supply.

Can paella be the only main course?

It’s a full meal on its own. Tapas and desserts can be added if you like.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

A gluten-free pan is no problem. Tell us about any coeliac guests when you book so we take the right care.

Can you bring crockery?

Yes, on request. Proper crockery or quality disposables can be added to your booking.

The process

On the day, we set up our cooking area, light the burners and start the sofrito. Once the rice goes in, it takes about 20 minutes, so the timing is planned around your event. Around midsummer it stays light in Bapchild until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:50pm, so winter events need lighting where we cook.

  1. Get in touch with the basics: when, where and how many.
  2. We come back with paellas to suit your guests, plus any extras.
  3. A week or so before, we confirm the plan.
  4. We set up, cook from scratch and keep an eye on your timings.
  5. Guests are served from the pan, and our area is cleared afterwards.

Planning for every diet

Allergies and diets are taken seriously. Here’s how you can help:

  • Tell us what else is being served
  • Ask for labels on each pan
  • Add a dietary question to your invitations
  • Flag any coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences

Once everyone is fed, we clear our cooking area, quietly and quickly.

Crockery, cutlery and waiting staff are available if your venue doesn’t provide them.

Why live cooking beats a buffet

Compared with a hog roast or barbecue, paella makes vegetarian, vegan and halal guests easier to cater for, because each paella has its own pan. It is served quickly from the pan, so queues move. Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the courses, plus any staff, crockery and travel. We quote for each event individually.

Vegetable and vegan paella

Seasonal vegetables on a rich sofrito base make a proper main dish. Vegan versions use plant-based stock.

Paella Valenciana

The original paella from Valencia is a countryside dish of chicken and vegetables, not seafood. It is a favourite with guests who do not eat fish.

  • Cooked live in giant pans at your event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and halal options
  • Paella, tapas, canapés and desserts
  • Sangria, bar staff, crockery and waiting staff
